Abstract

This design project focuses on creating a visual guidebook for parents to educate children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) aged 2-3 years. The guide was developed in response to the limited availability of comprehensive and accessible resources tailored to the Indonesian cultural context. Using a qualitative approach, the design process began by identifying specific challenges and needs faced by parents in Indonesia, while considering important aspects of visual design elements such as illustrations, color schemes, and layout strategies to enhance reader comprehension. The resulting design is a visually engaging yet practical guidebook that presents various communication strategies, behavior management techniques, and examples of daily routines that parents can implement. This project emphasizes the importance of early intervention and active parental involvement as primary support in the developmental process of children with ASD during their early stages of life. Keywords: Autism Spectrum Disorder, parental guide, visual design, early intervention, child development Perancangan ini berfokus pada pembuatan buku panduan visual bagi orang tua untuk mendidik anak dengan Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) usia 2- 3 tahun. Panduan ini dibuat sebagai respons terhadap terbatasnya sumber informasi komprehensif dan mudah diakses yang sesuai dengan konteks budaya Indonesia. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif, proses perancangan dimulai dengan mengidentifikasi tantangan dan kebutuhan spesifik yang dihadapi orang tua di Indonesia, sekaligus memperhatikan aspek-aspek penting dalam elemen desain visual seperti ilustrasi, komposisi warna, dan strategi tata letak untuk memudahkan pemahaman pembaca. Hasil perancangan berupa buku panduan visual yang praktis namun menarik, menyajikan berbagai strategi komunikasi, teknik penanganan perilaku, dan contoh rutinitas harian yang dapat diterapkan orang tua. Perancangan ini menekankan pentingnya intervensi sejak dini dan keterlibatan aktif orang tua sebagai pendukung utama dalam proses tumbuh kembang anak dengan ASD pada tahap awal kehidupannya.
