Abstract
This study aims to examine the influence of perceived quality, sustainable material, and safety on consumers’ purchase intention toward environmentally friendly bottled drinking water (AMDK) made from recycled plastic (rPET), and to investigate the moderating role of green scepticism. The research was conducted in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) using purposive sampling, involving 210 respondents who were aware of or had previously purchased rPET-based bottled water. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM–PLS). The results reveal that sustainable material and safety have a significant positive influence on purchase intention, while perceived quality shows a positive but statistically insignificant effect. Moreover, green scepticism significantly moderates the relationship between safety and purchase intention, but not the other two variables. These findings highlight the critical role of perceived safety and the importance of transparent and credible environmental claims in shaping consumer purchase behavior for sustainable products. From a practical perspective, companies are encouraged to enhance consumer trust in product safety and environmental authenticity to increase adoption of eco-friendly rPET-based bottled water. Keywords: perceived quality, sustainable material, safety, purchase intention, green scepticism Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh perceived quality, sustainable material, dan safety terhadap purchase intention konsumen terhadap produk Air Minum Dalam Kemasan (AMDK) ramah lingkungan berbahan dasar plastik daur ulang (rPET), serta menguji peran green scepticism sebagai variabel moderasi. Penelitian dilakukan di wilayah Jabodetabek dengan metode purposive sampling terhadap 210 responden yang mengetahui atau pernah membeli AMDK berbahan rPET. Analisis data menggunakan pendekatan Structural Equation Modeling– Partial Least Square (SEM–PLS). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sustainable material dan safety berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap purchase intention, sedangkan perceived quality berpengaruh positif namun tidak signifikan. Selain itu, green scepticism terbukti secara signifikan memoderasi hubungan safety terhadap purchase intention, namun tidak memoderasi hubungan dua variabel lainnya. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya aspek keamanan dan komunikasi klaim keberlanjutan yang kredibel dalam membentuk niat beli konsumen terhadap produk rPET. Implikasi praktis menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan perlu meningkatkan kepercayaan konsumen terhadap keamanan dan keaslian klaim ramah lingkungan untuk mendorong adopsi produk berkelanjutan.
