Abstract

Subjective well-being (SWB) in school-aged children is a crucial aspect of psychological development, as it relates to mental health, learning motivation, and academic achievement. Social support from parents, teachers, classmates, and close friends is considered to play an important role in promoting children’s wellbeing at school. This study aimed to examine the relationship between social support and subjective well-being among elementary school students in South Tangerang. The research employed a quantitative correlational design, using the Social Support Scale for Children (SSSC) developed by Harter (1985) and the Student Subjective Wellbeing Questionnaire (SSWQ) developed by Renshaw et al. (2015) as instruments. The sample consisted of 76 students aged 8–12 years, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using correlation testing. The findings revealed no significant relationship between social support and subjective well-being in school-aged children. These results indicate that children’s subjective well-being is not solely determined by perceived social support, but may also be influenced by other psychological and environmental factors. Keywords: social support, subjective well-being, school-aged children, taechers, peer support Kesejahteraan subjektif (subjective well-being) anak usia sekolah merupakan aspek penting dalam perkembangan psikologis karena berhubungan dengan kesehatan mental, motivasi belajar, dan pencapaian akademik. Kata Kunci: social support, subjective well-being, anak usia sekolah, guru, teman sebaya.
