Abstract

This study compares the structural behavior of buildings with and without shear walls to determine their effect on inter-story drift and overall stability under seismic loads. The modeling was conducted on an 8-story hospital building plus one rooftop using ETABS software, with two models analyzed: Model 1 (without shear walls) and Model 2 (with shear walls placed at the building corners). The analysis results show that the maximum displacement in Model 1 was 36.35 mm in the X direction and 37.86 mm in the Y direction. After adding shear walls (Model 2), the X displacement decreased to 32.08 mm (a reduction of about 12%), while the Y displacement slightly decreased to 37.44 mm (around 1%). These results demonstrate that shear walls can enhance the lateral stiffness of structures, particularly in the X direction, and serve as a useful reference in designing earthquake-resistant buildings. Penelitian ini membandingkan perilaku struktur bangunan tanpa shear wall dan dengan shear wall untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap simpangan antar lantai (story drift) serta kestabilan struktur akibat beban gempa. Pemodelan dilakukan pada gedung rumah sakit 8 lantai + 1 rooftop menggunakan perangkat lunak ETABS, dengan dua model yang dianalisis, yaitu Model 1 (tanpa shear wall) dan Model 2 (dengan shear wall di sudut bangunan). Hasil analisis menunjukkan simpangan maksimum Model 1 sebesar 36,35 mm (arah X) dan 37,86 mm (arah Y). Setelah penambahan shear wall (Model 2), simpangan arah X menurun menjadi 32,08 mm atau sekitar 12%, sedangkan arah Y menjadi 37,44 mm atau berkurang 1%. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa penggunaan shear wall dapat meningkatkan kekakuan lateral bangunan, terutama pada arah X, sehingga dapat menjadi acuan perencanaan struktur bangunan tahan gempa.
