Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between alexithymia and social support with burnout among university students in Indonesia. Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion often experienced by students due to high academic demands. Alexithymia, as an internal factor, refers to an individual’s difficulty in identifying and expressing emotions, while social support, as an external factor, may serve as a stress buffer. This correlational quantitative research involved 405 students from various regions in Indonesia. The instruments used were the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). The findings revealed significant correlations between alexithymia and burnout, and between social support and burnout. These results highlight the importance of emotional regulation and strengthening social support to prevent burnout among students. Alat ukur yang digunakan meliputi Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), dan Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS).
