Abstract
This study is based on the importance of loyalty values in Indonesian culture, which are often depicted in films as reflections of social reality. The film Akhir Kisah Cinta Si Doel was chosen as the research object because it presents a powerful love dilemma within the context of Betawi cultural traditions. The aim of this research is to examine how loyalty is dramatized through visual, verbal, and contextual symbols in the film. This research applies the semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce, focusing on three main elements: the representamen (qualisign, sinsign, legisign), the object (icon, index, symbol), and the interpretant (rheme, dicent sign, argument). This framework is used to explore the relationship between signs and meanings in the film's narrative and how these signs are interpreted by the audience within an Indonesian cultural context. The research method employed is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected through observation of scenes, dialogue transcripts, and the appearance of visual and audio symbols. The analysis identifies sign systems and explores how these signs contribute to the construction of loyalty meaning. The findings reveal that the film successfully builds a dramatic narrative of loyalty through visual signs such as character expressions and gestures, cultural symbols like traditional Betawi clothing and interior design, and emotionally charged dialogues. These signs reflect moral dilemmas, responsibility, and deep emotional conflict, all of which reinforce the message of loyalty in human relationships. Thus, the film functions not only as entertainment but also as an educational medium conveying cultural and ethical values to society. Keywords: Semiotics, Charles Sanders Peirce, Loyalty, Film, Dramatization, Si Doel Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya nilai kesetiaan dalam budaya Indonesia, yang sering kali diangkat dalam karya film sebagai refleksi realitas sosial. Film Akhir Kisah Cinta Si Doel menjadi objek kajian karena menampilkan dilema cinta yang kuat dalam kerangka budaya Betawi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji bagaimana kesetiaan didramatisasi melalui simbol-simbol visual, verbal, dan kontekstual dalam film tersebut. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce yang berfokus pada tiga elemen utama yaitu representamen (qualisign, sinsign, legisign), objek (ikon, indeks, simbol), dan interpretant (rheme, dicent sign, argument). Teori ini digunakan untuk mengungkap relasi antara tanda dan makna dalam narasi film, serta bagaimana tanda tersebut diinterpretasikan oleh audiens dalam konteks budaya Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi terhadap adegan-adegan film, transkrip dialog, serta simbol visual dan audio yang muncul. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi sistem tanda dan bagaimana tanda-tanda tersebut berkontribusi dalam membentuk makna kesetiaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film ini berhasil membangun narasi dramatis tentang kesetiaan melalui penggunaan tanda-tanda visual seperti ekspresi wajah dan gestur tokoh, simbol budaya seperti pakaian adat dan interior rumah Betawi, serta dialog penuh emosi. Tanda-tanda tersebut memperlihatkan dilema moral, tanggung jawab, dan emosi yang kuat, yang seluruhnya memperkuat pesan kesetiaan dalam hubungan antar manusia. Dengan demikian, film ini tidak hanya menjadi hiburan, tetapi juga media edukatif yang menyampaikan pesan budaya dan nilai etika kepada masyarakat.
