Abstract
South Korea, or the Republic of Korea, is located in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula and has the capital city of Seoul, which is one of the largest and most developed cities in the world. The close relationship between South Korea and Indonesia is reflected in the development of trade and investment in various sectors as well as the cultural acculturation that occurs. In the era of globalization, South Korean culture, especially through the phenomenon of the Korean Wave or Hallyu, has spread widely in Indonesia, creating an active fan community and leading to the establishment of the Korean Culture Center (KCC) in Jakarta. KCC was founded to promote South Korean culture through various educational programs and cultural activities, such as Korean language courses, workshops, and art exhibitions. However, survey results indicate that there are several design issues that disrupt the user experience, such as the library space design that does not reflect Korean identity and the inefficiency of the multifunctional space. In addition, the accessibility of the lobby area is also less attractive due to inadequate furniture arrangement. KCC's interior design aims to create a design thatreflects the two sides of traditional and modern Korea with a contemporary style. This approach emphasizes elements that support education and sustainability, resulting in a neat and clean look. It is hoped that the results of this design can increase the comfort of visitors in knowing and learning about South Korean culture and language, as well as giving a positive impression of the institution.
