Abstract

The design of a restaurant interior not only serves as a functional dining space but also plays a vital role in creating a spatial experience that attracts and retains customers. This study aims to design the interior of a Middle Eastern restaurant in Bandung by applying the biophilic design concept, which emphasizes the connection between humans and nature. The research methods include data collection through observation, literature study, and user needs analysis, followed by a design concept that integrates Middle Eastern cultural elements with biophilic principles. The results of the design show that the application of biophilic design can create an interior atmosphere that is comfortable, healthy, and aesthetically appealing, while also presenting the distinctive identity of Middle Eastern restaurants. Natural elements are applied through the use of natural materials, natural lighting, interior vegetation, and spatial arrangements that encourage social interaction and relaxation. This integration is expected to enhance the attractiveness of the restaurant, provide visitors with a unique spatial experience, and contribute to the development of sustainable interior design. Keywords: Interior design, Middle Eastern restaurant, Biophilic design, Bandung Perancangan interior restoran tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai wadah aktivitas makan, tetapi juga sebagai sarana membangun pengalaman ruang yang mampu menarik dan mempertahankan konsumen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang interior restoran Timur Tengah di Bandung dengan pendekatan konsep biophilic design yang mengedepankan hubungan manusia dengan alam. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengumpulan data melalui observasi, studi literatur, dan analisis kebutuhan pengguna, kemudian diteruskan dengan konsep perancangan yang memadukan unsur budaya Timur Tengah dengan prinsip-prinsip biophilic. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan biophilic design mampu menciptakan suasana ruang yang nyaman, sehat, dan estetis, sekaligus menghadirkan identitas khas restoran Timur Tengah. Unsur alam diwujudkan melalui penggunaan material alami, pencahayaan alami, vegetasi interior, serta pola ruang yang mendukung interaksi sosial dan relaksasi. Perpaduan elemen tersebut diharapkan dapat meningkatkan daya tarik restoran, memberikan pengalaman ruang yang berbeda bagi pengunjung, serta berkontribusi pada perkembangan desain interior yang berkelanjutan.
