Abstract

The Parungpanjang–Cilejit commuter railway corridor is one of the high-density operational lines experiencing a significant increase in train frequency and passenger volume, driven by the need to reduce headway to ≤10 minutes. This condition imposes new challenges on the Overhead Contact System (OCS), particularly in terms of voltage stability and power distribution efficiency from traction substations. Field observations indicate considerable power losses and voltage drops along the supply line, necessitating a technical evaluation to ensure the system’s capacity to meet rising operational demands. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the magnitude of power loss and voltage drop in the existing substation configuration and to formulate technically sound solutions aligned with operational needs and regulatory standards. A quantitative research method was employed using a manual calculation approach based on real operational data. Key technical parameters include the intersubstation distance (±7.01 km), conductor resistance (0.0468 Ω), KRL SF10 train formation specifications (traction power 3232 kW), and maximum current (203.71 A). Simulations were conducted for three scenarios: (1) current system configuration, (2) addition of an intermediate substation, and (3) enhancement of network specifications. Each scenario was analyzed for voltage drop and power loss, and compared against the maximum allowable 10% voltage drop from the nominal 1620 VDC, as regulated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation Regulation No. 50/2018. The results show that in the existing condition with an 8-minute headway, the voltage drop reaches 239.256 V (14.77%) and power loss amounts to 268.813 kW— exceeding technical thresholds. The addition of an intermediate substation reduces the voltage drop to 6.07% and power loss to approximately 100.91 kW. Meanwhile, improving network specifications—such as using double feeders and increasing SR capacity—reduces resistance to 0.0234 Ω and maintains voltage drop within 5.33%– 8.70%. These findings confirm that both solutions are technically effective and applicable to different planning horizons. It is concluded that the current OCS system is insufficient to support high-frequency operations, and technical interventions are necessary to maintain power distribution reliability and efficiency. Keywords: Power Loss, Voltage Drop, Traction Substation, Overhead Contact System, Headway Lintasan KRL Parungpanjang–Cilejit merupakan salah satu jalur operasional padat yang mengalami peningkatan signifikan dalam jumlah perjalanan dan volume penumpang, seiring dengan tuntutan pengurangan headway menjadi ≤10 menit. Kondisi ini menimbulkan tantangan pada sistem kelistrikan Listrik Aliran Atas (LAA), khususnya terkait kestabilan tegangan dan efisiensi distribusi daya dari gardu traksi. Berdasarkan kondisi aktual di lapangan, ditemukan indikasi terjadinya rugi daya dan jatuh tegangan yang cukup besar, sehingga diperlukan evaluasi teknis untuk memastikan sistem distribusi mampu memenuhi beban operasional yang meningkat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis besarnya rugi daya dan jatuh tegangan pada sistem gardu traksi eksisting serta merumuskan solusi peningkatan performa sistem distribusi yang sesuai dengan regulasi dan kebutuhan operasional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan perhitungan manual berbasis data aktual. Parameter teknis yang digunakan meliputi panjang lintasan antar gardu (±7,01 km), resistansi penghantar (0,0468 Ω), spesifikasi KRL formasi SF10 (daya traksi 3232 kW), dan arus maksimum (203,71 A). Simulasi dilakukan dalam tiga skenario: (1) kondisi eksisting, (2) penambahan gardu sisip, dan (3) peningkatan spesifikasi teknis jaringan LAA. Setiap skenario dianalisis untuk menghasilkan nilai jatuh tegangan dan rugi daya, lalu dibandingkan terhadap batas maksimum teknis 10% dari tegangan nominal 1620 VDC sesuai Permenhub No. 50 Tahun 2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kondisi eksisting dengan headway 8 menit, terjadi jatuh tegangan sebesar 239,256 V (14,77%) dan rugi daya mencapai 268,813 kW, yang melampaui ambang batas teknis. Alternatif penambahan gardu traksi sisip mampu menurunkan jatuh tegangan menjadi 6,07% dan rugi daya ke kisaran 100,91 kW. Sementara itu, peningkatan spesifikasi teknis jaringan seperti penggunaan double feeder dan peningkatan kapasitas SR menghasilkan penurunan resistansi menjadi 0,0234 Ω dan jatuh tegangan dalam kisaran 5,33%–8,70%. Dengan demikian, kedua alternatif terbukti efektif secara teknis dan dapat diimplementasikan sesuai kebutuhan jangka pendek maupun jangka panjang. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa sistem LAA eksisting belum memadai untuk mendukung operasional KRL dengan frekuensi tinggi, dan intervensi teknis diperlukan untuk menjaga efisiensi serta stabilitas distribusi daya.
