Abstract

The Indonesian adaptation of the film Miracle in Cell No. 7 shows a story of friendship that grows in harsh prison conditions through the characters of Dodo Rozak and other prisoners. This study aims to analyze the representation of friendship in the Indonesian version of the film Miracle in Cell No. 7 in 2022 using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic approach. The theories used in this study are friendship, film elements, verbal and nonverbal communication, representation, and Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotics. With qualitative research methods and constructivism paradigms, researchers analyze the main scenes using the concepts of signs, signifiers, and signifieds. The results of the study show that friendship is represented through various visual and verbal signs such as hugs, togetherness, emotional support, and acts of mutual support. This film shows that human values such as empathy, loyalty, and sacrifice can still develop in an environment full of stigma and social pressure. Keywords: Representation, Friendship, Film, Semiotics, Ferdinand de Saussure Film Miracle in Cell No.7 yang di adaptasi versi Indonesia menampilkan kisah persahabatan yang tumbuh dalam kondisi penjara yang keras melalui tokoh Dodo Rozak dan para narapidana lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi persahabatan dalam film Miracle in Cell No. 7 versi Indonesia tahun 2022 menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah persahabatan, unsur-unsur film, komunikasi verbal dan nonverbal, representasi, dan semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure.Dengan metode penelitian kualitatif dan paradigma konstruktivisme, peneliti menganalisis adegan-adegan utama menggunakan konsep tanda, penanda (signifier), dan petanda (signified). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persahabatan direpresentasikan melalui berbagai tanda visual dan verbal seperti pelukan, kebersamaan, bantuan emosional, dan tindakan saling mendukung. Film ini memperlihatkan bahwa nilai-nilai kemanusiaan seperti empati, kesetiaan, dan pengorbanan tetap dapat berkembang dalam lingkungan yang penuh stigma dan tekanan sosial.
