Abstract
Film, as an audiovisual medium of communication, possesses a powerful ability to convey social messages in an emotional and profound manner. Unwritten Feelings is a short film in the drama-romance genre that aims to raise public awareness about the lives of individuals with visual disabilities. The writer chose this theme to highlight narratives that are rarely addressed in mainstream media, particularly the daily challenges faced by people with visual impairments. This research aims to analyze the implementation of mise en scène and screen direction techniques in the short film Unwritten Feelings, and how these elements are utilized to enhance emotional expression and maintain visual continuity within the narrative. Through this analysis, the writer seeks to demonstrate how consciously designed visual elements can convey deeper meanings and support a touching cinematic experience. The findings indicate that the arrangement of visual elements—such as dim lighting, symbolically colored costumes, and subtle actor gestures—effectively reinforces the film’s emotional atmosphere. The consistent application of screen direction also helps maintain visual logic between scenes and enables the audience to follow the storyline more clearly. Overall, this approach makes Unwritten Feelings not only a fictional work, but also a reflective medium for understanding love, limitations, and empathy on a deeper level.
