Abstract
Film is an effective audiovisual medium for conveying social messages in an emotional and touching way, allowing it to establish a connection with the audience. Unwritten Feelings is a short film in the romantic drama genre that tells the story of the relationship between Asmara, a novel writer, and Banuata, a visually impaired individual. This film uses a visual approach to convey emotions, conflicts, and moral messages, and serves as a social reflection medium for people with disabilities. The aim of this research is to analyze the application of the 5’C Cinematography theory in the production process of Unwritten Feelings. The author plays the role of Director of Photography (DoP), responsible for designing and realizing the visuals according to the director’s instructions. The 5’C Cinematography theory consists of five key elements in cinematography: Composition, Close-up, Camera Angles, Continuity, and Cutting. These five elements are used to strengthen the storyline and deepen the visual meaning of each scene. The research results show that the consistent application of the 5’C Cinematography theory supports the creation of atmosphere and strengthens the message being conveyed. The use of appropriate composition, camera angles, and suitable cutting techniques provides an emotionally strong viewing experience. Therefore, this film is expected to contribute not only artistically but also in raising social awareness through audiovisual media.
