Abstract

Cross dresser merupakan fenomena di mana individu mengenakan pakaian yang tidak sesuai dengan jenis kelaminnya. Saat ini, cross dressing tidak hanya sebatas hiburan atau seni, tetapi juga menjadi bagian dari kebebasan berekspresi yang semakin diterima di masyarakat. Perkembangan platform digital, khususnya TikTok sebagai ruang media sosial dan ruang publik digital, berperan penting dalam menyebarluaskan fenomena ini kepada khalayak luas. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori resepsi Stuart Hall, yang menyatakan bahwa khalayak melakukan decoding terhadap pesan media melalui tiga posisi kemungkinan, yaitu dominant-hegemonic (dominan), negotiated (negosiasi), dan oppositional (oposisi). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis resepsi, di mana pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview) dengan informan yang berasal dari Generasi Z sebagai pengguna aktif TikTok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemaknaan yang diberikan oleh informan terhadap konten cross dresser di TikTok, khususnya dalam akun @azhkategar391, sebagian besar berada dalam posisi dominan. Hal ini disebabkan karena Generasi Z dinilai lebih open-minded terhadap keberagaman, kreativitas, dan kebebasan berekspresi. Terlebih lagi TikTok sebagai ruang publik digital memungkinkan khalayak untuk berpartisipasi aktif dalam menerima, menginterpretasikan, serta merespons konten cross dresser sesuai dengan pengalaman dan nilai yang mereka anut. Cross-dresser occurs when individuals wear clothes that do not match their gender. Currently, cross-dressing is not only entertainment or art but also an increasingly accepted part of freedom of expression in society. The development of digital platforms, especially TikTok as a social media space and digital public space, plays an important role in disseminating this phenomenon to the wider public. This study uses Stuart Hall's reception theory, which states that the audience decodes media messages through three possible positions, namely dominanthegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional. The method used in this study is qualitative with a reception analysis approach, where data collection is carried out through in-depth interviews with informants from Generation Z as active TikTok users. The results of the study show that the meaning given by informants to cross-dresser content on TikTok, especially in the @azhkategar391 account, is mostly in a dominant position. This is because Generation Z is considered more open-minded towards diversity, creativity, and freedom of expression. Moreover TikTok as a digital public space allows the audience to actively participate in receiving, interpreting, and responding to cross-dresser content according to their experiences and values.
