Abstract
Academic achievement can be defined as the results or level of ability attained by students after undergoing the learning process over a certain period. However, the number of students achieving the expected learning outcomes remains very low, including in fundamental skills such as numeracy. This is the result of previous phenomena related to online game addiction, which has impacted students' academic performance. This study aims to examine the relationship between online game addiction and mathematics achievement among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri X in West Jakarta. The study employs a quantitative approach using a simple linear correlation method and saturated sampling technique. The research subjects consist of 144 ninth-grade students.The measurement tool for online game addiction is based on a scale developed by Tjibeng Jap, Sri Tiari, Edo Sebastian Jaya, and Mekar Sari Suteja (2013), while mathematics achievement is assessed through midterm exam scores. The Pearson correlation test results indicate a significant negative relationship, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of -0.291. It is concluded that there is a relationship between online game addiction and mathematics achievement among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri X in West Jakarta. Keywords: Learning achievement, math, online game addiction, junior high school students Prestasi belajar dapat diartikan sebagai hasil atau tingkat pencapaian kemampuan yang diperoleh siswa setelah mengikuti proses pembelajaran dalam waktu tertentu. Akan tetapi jumlah siswa yang mencapai hasil belajar yang diharapkan masih sangat rendah, termasuk untuk kemampuan dasar seperti numerasi. Ini adalah hasil dari fenomena sebelumnya yang berkaitan dengan kecanduan game online, yang berdampak pada prestasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecanduan game online dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas IX di SMP Negeri X Jakarta Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasi linier sederhana serta teknik sampling jenuh. Subjek penelitian adalah 144 siswa kelas IX. Alat ukur yang digunakan pada skala kecanduan game online disusun oleh Tjibeng Jap, Sri Tiari, Edo Sebastian Jaya, Mekar Sari Suteja (2013) dan mengukur prestasi belajar matematika melihat nilai UTS. Hasil analisis uji korelasi pearson mendapatkan nilai hubungan negatif signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05) dan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar -0,291, disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara kecanduan game online dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas IX di SMP Negeri X Jakarta Barat.
