Abstract
The Indonesian horror film Qibla, directed by Bobby Prasetyo in 2024, sparked controversy before its release. The visual elements in this film have drawn criticism from various parties, including the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Film Censorship Institute (LSF), because it is considered to package the manipulation of jinn and demons that can take revenge on humans, a theme that is considered contrary to religious teachings. This film caused a stir on social media, thus attracting the interest of researchers to study the issue based on the understanding of teenagers. This research aims to understand how adolescent receptions interpret religious values and practices highlighted in their official trailers. The research data collection was carried out using the FGD method on adolescents with different backgrounds who had watched the trailer of the Qibla film. The paradigm used in this study is the constructivism paradigm and the methodology used is reception analyst. Credibility test by means of triangulation and referential adequacy. As well as analyzing the data that has been obtained from interviews with informants. So that the results of the analysis were obtained that the informant was included in the category of interpretation of the dominant position, negotiation or opposition from the analysis of the Stuart Hall reception. The research results show that presenting a trailer that summarizes several scenes in the original film can trigger an uproar on social media so that the film can be canceled. In the reception analysis process, the informant accepted all the religious elements displayed such as the sarong, peci, mukenah, and hijab as things that identified the Islamic religion in the trailer. Several informants such as Imelda and Sania received part of the message and reinterpreted the contents of the trailer message according to the informant's personal experience that the film trailer received brought a positive message to remind the audience to always remember worship in any condition. There was an informant who did not accept the content of the message, namely Imelda, because the trailer was considered to give a negative stigma to certain religions because society normalizes trusting the teachings of religious figures who are far from religious teachings more than the teachings of their own religion so they can fall into error. Elemen visual dalam film ini menuai kritik dari berbagai pihak, termasuk Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) dan Lembaga Sensor Film (LSF), karena dianggap mengemas manipulasi jin dan setan yang dapat membalas dendam pada manusia, sebuah tema yang dianggap bertentangan dengan ajaran agama. Film ini membawa kegaduhan di media sosial sehingga menarik minat peneliti untuk mengkaji isu tersebut berdasarkan resepsi remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana resepsi remaja memaknai nilai dan praktik agama yang ditonjolkan pada trailer official mereka. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan menggunakan melalui metode FGD pada remaja dengan latar belakang berbeda yang telah menyaksikan trailer film kiblat. Paradigma yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah paradigma konstruktivisme dan metodologi yang digunakan adalah reception analyst. Uji kredibilitas dengan cara triangulasi dan kecukupan referensial. Serta menganalisis data yang telah didapat dari wawancara dengan informan. Sehingga mendapatkan hasil analisis bahwa informan termasuk kedalam kategori penafsiran posisi dominan, negosiasi atau oposisi dari analisis resepsi Stuart Hall. Hasil penelitian menunjukan penyajian trailer yang merangkum beberapa potong adegan pada film aslinya dapat memicu kegaduhan di sosial media sehingga film bisa batal ditayangkan. Pada proses analisis resepsi, informan menerima seluruh unsur agama yang ditampilkan seperti sarung, peci, mukenah, dan hijab sebagai hal yang mengidentitaskan agama islam dalam trailer. Beberapa informan seperti Imelda dan sania menerima sebagian pesan dan menafsirkan kembali isi pesan trailer menurut pengalaman pribadi informan bahwa trailer film ini diterima membawa pesan positif untuk mengingatkaan para penonton supaya selalu ingat dengan ibadah dalam kondisi apapun. Terdapat informan yang tidak menerima isi pesan yaitu Imelda, karena trailer tersebut dianggap dapat memberikan stigma negatif terhadap agama tertentu karena masyarakat menormalisasikan lebih mempercayai ajaran tokoh agama yang jauh dari ajaran agama daripada ajaran agama mereka sendiri sehingga bisa terjerumus pada kesesatan.
