Abstract

This quantitative regression study aims to examine the effect of social media addiction on learning motivation in Mercu Buana University students. A total of 536 student respondents who are active students at Mercu Buana University were recruited using the accidental sampling method. There are 2 measuring instruments used, namely the motivated strategies for learning questionnaire developed by Pintrich (2004) & Shia (1999) and the Social Media Addiction Scale developed by Al Manayes (2015) based on the concept of Young (1996). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the help of the SPSS version 20 program. The results of the hypothesis test showed that there was a positive and significant effect of social media addiction on learning motivation in Mercu Buana University students. Social media addiction has a positive effect on learning motivation in Mercu Buana University Meruya students and contributes 10.3%. Keywords : Addiction Media Social and Learning Motivations Penelitian kuantitatif regresi ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh adiksi media sosial terhadap motivasi belajar pada mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana. Sebanyak 536 responden mahasiswa yang merupakan mahasiswa/i aktif di Universitas Mercu Buana dijaring menggunakan metode accidental sampling. Terdapat 2 alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu motivated strategies for learning questionnaire hasil pengembangan dari Pintrich (2004) & Shia (1999) dan Skala Kecanduan Media Sosial yang dikembangkan oleh Al Manayes (2015) berdasarkan konsep Young (1996). Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana dengan bantuan program SPSS versi 20. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan adiksi media sosial terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana. Adiksi media sosial berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi belajar pada mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana Meruya dan berkontribusi sebesar 10,3%. Kata Kunci : Adiksi Media Sosial dan Motivasi Belajar
