Abstract
Documentary films have the power to convey the reality of life through authentic and informative visuals. This assignment aims to analyze the role of the cameraman in shooting a documentary film with a case study on the production of the Tahu documentary film "Tahu Factory." This research explores the techniques and strategies used by cameramen in presenting visual narratives that depict the tofu production process, the work environment in the factory, and the daily lives of workers. This research uses a qualitative approach with direct observation methods during the production process, as well as interviews with cameramen and other members of the production team. The research results show that the cameraman has a significant responsibility in ensuring that every frame captured represents reality in an interesting and informative way. Taking detailed shots, choosing the right camera angle, and using natural lighting are the main factors that influence the visual quality and emotions conveyed to the audience. In addition, this research found that cameramen must be able to adapt to frequently changing situations in the field, and must have a deep understanding of the cultural and social context of the subjects being recorded. This is important to maintain the authenticity and integrity of the documentary, especially in depicting the tofu production process which has both traditional and modern aspects. Film dokumenter memiliki kekuatan untuk menyampaikan realitas kehidupan melalui visual yang autentik dan informatif. Tugas ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran juru kamera dalam pengambilan gambar pada film dokumenter dengan studi kasus pada produksi film dokumenter Tahu "Pabrik Tahu." Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi teknik dan strategi yang digunakan oleh juru kamera dalam menghadirkan narasi visual yang menggambarkan proses produksi tahu, lingkungan kerja di pabrik, serta kehidupan sehari-hari para pekerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode observasi langsung selama proses produksi, serta wawancara dengan juru kamera dan anggota tim produksi lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa juru kamera memiliki tanggung jawab yang signifikan dalam memastikan setiap frame yang diambil dapat merepresentasikan realitas dengan cara yang menarik dan informatif. Pengambilan gambar yang detail, pilihan sudut kamera yang tepat, serta pemanfaatan pencahayaan alami merupakan faktor utama yang mempengaruhi kualitas visual dan emosi yang disampaikan kepada penonton. Selain itu, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa juru kamera harus mampu beradaptasi dengan situasi yang sering kali berubah di lapangan, serta harus memiliki pemahaman mendalam tentang konteks budaya dan sosial dari subjek yang direkam. Hal ini penting untuk menjaga keaslian dan integritas dokumenter, terutama dalam menggambarkan proses produksi tahu yang memiliki aspek tradisional dan modern.
