Abstract

Films influence perceptions of reality and play a role in shaping their knowledge of the world including public opinion and community perceptions, including mental health issues. Inaccurate representations of mental health in films can lead to negative stereotypes and the spread of misinformation. Using Peirce's theory, this study analyzes signs in films to understand how the film depicts and interprets mental health. Semiosis is the process of interpreting and interpreting signs that go through three stages. The first stage is the absorption of the representamen aspect of the sign (first through the senses), the second stage spontaneously associates the representamen with the cognitive experience of humans who interpret objects, and the third stage interprets objects according to their intentions. The third stage is called interpretant This type of research uses a qualitative approach because it aims to find out and examine mental health issues in the hello ghost film. Meanwhile, the nature of the research used in this study is descriptive. Overall, the results of the study show that the Hello Ghost film uses semiotic signs in accordance with Peirce's theory to describe and support the concept of mental health. The visual signs, actions, and dialogues in this film serve to show how social interaction, kindness, and emotional support contribute to psychological well-being. The message conveyed emphasizes that mental health is not only influenced by the emotional condition of the individual, but also by social relationships and positive actions taken by and towards others. Keywords: Film, Semiotics Charles Sanders Pierce, Mental Health Film memengaruhi persepsi terhadap realitas dan berperan dalam membentuk pengetahuan mereka tentang dunia termasuk opini publik dan persepsi masyarakat, termasuk isu kesehatan mental.
