Abstract
In this digital era, people are required to have the ability to adapt to the impact of the increasingly widespread use of information and communication technology. The presence of various devices such as gadgets, tablets, and computers has facilitated the process of interaction and access to information in daily activities. Social media, especially YouTube, has transformed into a major platform in mass communication that encourages people to share messages, information and views, making it very popular among the younger generation. Recently, the film ‘Kiblat’, which chronicles the spiritual journey of a young man, caused controversy in society. The symbolism in the film, which relates to religious values, led to various responses from the public, including from religious leaders and netizens. This controversy illustrates the importance of public understanding and interpretation of content that deals with sensitive issues, making it interesting to investigate further. This research focuses on analysing the reception of Cine Crib YouTube channel followers towards the Kiblat film trailer. Using Stuart Hall's reception analysis theory, this study aims to explore how audiences capture, interpret and respond to the religious values in the content. With this approach, a deeper understanding of the dynamics of interaction between media content and audiences is expected. The results of this study are expected to provide academic and practical contributions in understanding the relationship between religious content and audiences on various digital platforms. In addition, the findings are expected to help people internalise the moral and ethical values highlighted, as well as provide insights for future research in the field of communication and media studies. Di era digital ini, masyarakat dituntut untuk memiliki kemampuan untuk beradaptasi dengan dampak dari penggunaan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang semakin meluas. Hadirnya berbagai perangkat seperti gadget, tablet, dan komputer telah memudahkan proses interaksi serta akses informasi dalam aktivitas sehari-hari. Media sosial, khususnya YouTube, telah bertransformasi menjadi platform utama dalam komunikasi massa yang mendorong masyarakat untuk berbagi pesan, informasi, dan pandangan, menjadikannya sangat populer di kalangan generasi muda. Baru-baru ini, film “Kiblat” yang menceritakan perjalanan spiritual seorang pemuda menimbulkan kontroversi di masyarakat. Simbolisme dalam film tersebut, yang berkaitan dengan nilai-nilai keagamaan, menyebabkan berbagai tanggapan dari masyarakat, termasuk dari tokoh agama dan warganet. Kontroversi ini menggambarkan betapa pentingnya pemahaman dan interpretasi publik terhadap konten yang berhubungan dengan isu-isu sensitif, sehingga hal ini menarik untuk diteliti lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis resepsi followers channel YouTube Cine Crib terhadap trailer film “Kiblat”. Menggunakan teori analisis resepsi oleh Stuart Hall, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali bagaimana audiens menangkap, menginterpretasikan, dan merespons nilai-nilai keagamaan dalam konten tersebut. Dengan pendekatan ini, diharapkan dapat ditemukan pemahaman yang lebih dalam mengenai dinamika interaksi antara konten media dan audiens. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi akademis dan praktis dalam memahami hubungan antara konten keagamaan dan audiens di berbagai platform digital. Selain itu, temuan tersebut diharapkan membantu masyarakat dalam menginternalisasi nilai-nilai moral dan etika yang ditonjolkan, serta memberikan wawasan bagi penelitian-penelitian selanjutnya dalam bidang komunikasi dan studi media.
