Abstract

Andrew Tate is known for his presence on social media. He has a strong presence on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, where he often speaks about topics such as personal success, wealth, lifestyle, and tips for achieving goals. Additionally, he is also well-known for his views on masculinity. He believes that a man should embody traditional masculinity, a perspective that is considered patriarchal and has sparked controversy. The Literature Review consists of 5 previous studies with 1 international journal. Several studies are cited as references to enrich the context of the author's research. This section will present relevant research findings, both from national and international researchers, related to the title of the study "Masculinity Symbols by Andrew Tate on the YouTube Channel Piers Morgan Uncensored". The Theoretical Study consists of masculinity in biological concept, hegemonic masculinity, and misogyny. In this research, the paradigm to be used is the Critical Paradigm. In communication science, especially in media and cultural studies, the critical approach tends to view events in a broad context, not only at one level, but also explores other levels that play a role. In this study, the researcher will discuss the representation of masculinity in social media and its impact on the identity of young men. Masculinity refers to the attributes, behaviors, and cultural representations associated with being a man. This concept is influenced by social factors as well as biological aspects. To be considered a man, an individual must meet the criteria of masculinity that apply in society. Keywords: Semiotics, Masculinity, Representation, Youtube Andrew Tate dikenal berkat eksistensinya di media sosial. Dia memiliki kehadiran yang kuat di platform seperti Twitter, Instagram, dan YouTube, di mana dia sering berbicara tentang topik-topik seperti keberhasilan pribadi, kekayaan, gaya hidup, dan kiat-kiat untuk mencapai tujuan. Selain itu ia juga terkenal dalam pandangannya mengenai maskulinitas, dia percaya terhadap seorang laki-laki harus memiliki jiwa maskulinitas tradisional, yang mana pandangannya ini dinilai patriarki dan memicu kontroversi. Tinjauan Pustaka terdiri dari 5 penelitian terdahulu dengan 1 jurnal internasional. Beberapa penelitian diangkat sebagai referensi untuk memperkaya konteks penelitian Peneliti. Bagian ini akan menyajikan hasil-hasil penelitian yang relevan, baik dari peneliti nasional maupun internasional, terkait dengan judul penelitian "Representasi Maskulinitas Andrew Tate Pada Channel YouTube Piers Morgan Uncensored". Kajian Teoritis terdiri dari maskulinitas dalam konsep biologis, maskulinitas hegemonik, dan misogini. Dalam penelitian ini, paradigma yang akan digunakan adalah paradigma konstruktivisme. Paradigma konstruktivis adalah salah satu pendekatan sosial yang menganggap bahwa kebenaran atau realitas sosial merupakan hasil dari konstruksi lingkungan sosial, dan kebenaran tersebut bersifat relatif. Pada penelitian ini Peneliti akan membahas tentang representasi maskulinitas dalam media sosial dan dampaknya pada identitas pria muda. Maskulinitas mengacu pada atribut, perilaku, dan representasi budaya yang terkait dengan menjadi seorang pria. Konsep ini dipengaruhi oleh faktor sosial dan juga aspek biologis. Untuk dianggap sebagai seorang laki-laki, individu harus memenuhi kriteria maskulinitas yang berlaku dalam masyarakat. Kata Kunci: Semiotika, Simbol Maskulinitas, Representasi, YouTube
