Abstract
Based on the film title "My Happy Brother", this story is adapted from a real-life event. The film revolves around a young girl living a simple life. However, her parents entrust her with the responsibility of protecting and caring for her older brother, who has a hearing impairment. The girl is the younger sister of her brother, who has had this disability since birth. In the process of creating this applied final project, it can be concluded that the writer, as a film editor, has demonstrated their ability to seamlessly combine and sequence images. The filmmaking process would not be complete without a video editor. They are responsible for combining each recorded scene, adding finishing touches such as sound and visual effects, so that the story in the film can flow smoothly and achieve its intended purpose. In the production of the film 'My Happy Brother,' the writer, who also served as the film editor, employed the technique of rhythmic montage. This technique creates a seamless flow in the film by sequencing each shot so that the actions depicted are continuous and avoid abrupt jumps. The film 'My Happy Brother' has successfully created a significant impact through the use of these techniques, resulting in a work that is not only artistic but also socially meaningful. This research contributes to the understanding of how the role of the Film Editor and the use of cinematic techniques can influence interpretation. It is hoped that these findings can serve as a reference for other filmmakers in addressing complex family conflicts through the medium of film. Kata Kunci: Film Pendek, Penyunting Gambar, Rhytmic Montage, Drama Keluarga Berdasarkan judul film “My Happy Brother” ini mengangkat cerita dari kisah nyata yang ada, di dalam film ini akan menceritakan tentang seorang anak perempuan yang menjalani kehidupan sederhana. Namun, orang tua mereka memberikan amanah kepadanya untuk melindungi dan mengawasi kakaknya yang memiliki penyandang difabel tersebut yaitu semi tuna rungu. Anak perempuan tersebut adalah adik dari kakaknya yang mengalami kelainan sejak lahir. Dalam proses pembuatan tugas akhir aplikatif ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penulis sebagai Penyunting film, menunjukkan kemampuannya dalam menyatukan gambar dan merangkai supaya berkesinambungan. Proses pembuatan film tidak akan sempurna tanpa seorang penyunting gambar. Mereka bertanggung jawab menggabungkan setiap adegan yang telah direkam, memberikan sentuhan akhir seperti efek suara dan visual, sehingga cerita dalam film dapat mengalir dengan mulus dan mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan. Dalam produksi film My Happy Brother ini penulis yang berperan sebagai Penyunting Gambar atau editor menggunakan Teknik Rhytmic Montage dalam prosesnya Teknik ini membuat film menjadi berkesinambungan karna Teknik ini merangakai tiap shot-nya agar kegiatan yang dilakukan selalu berkelanjutan dan tidak Jumping. Film " My Happy Brother " berhasil menciptakan dampak yang signifikan melalui penggunaan teknik-teknik ini, menghasilkan karya yang tidak hanya artistik tetapi juga bermakna secara sosial. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pemahaman tentang bagaimana peran Penyunting Gambar dan penggunaan teknik-teknik sinematik dapat mempengaruhi interpretasi. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi para pembuat film lain dalam menangani konflik keluarga yang kompleks melalui medium film.
