Abstract
The presence of YouTube was the beginning of an audio-visual-based creative world. Many Content Creators have emerged with various creative and innovative ideas, one of which is the YouTube Channel "Warintil Official". This research aims to determine and analyze gender-based audience interpretations of the appearance and behavior of Warintil Official in the "Roma Birthday" broadcast. The literature review consists of eight previous studies which include discussions regarding audience interpretation, cross-dressing behavior, and gender representation in broadcasts. Theoretical studies in this research include mass media, new media, social media, YouTube, audience, gender, transgender, and reception theory. The subjects of this research were 8 informants. Data collection techniques include primary in the form of in-depth interviews and secondary data in the form of literature reviews from websites, news portals, online books, journals, and articles. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Also, the data validity technique used is data source triangulation. The research results show that when it comes to content ideas that portray gender contrast on the "Warintil Official" YouTube Channel, informants tend to be in a negotiating position. Meanwhile, in terms of the impact caused by broadcasts, they tend to vary, whether they are dominant, negotiating, or oppositional. Keywords : Interpretation. Audience, Gender, Transgender, Content, YouTube, Reception Analysis Kehadiran YouTube menjadi awal bagi dunia kreatif berbasis audio visual. Banyak Content Creator bermunculan dengan berbagai ide yang kreatif dan inovatif, salah satunya adalah YouTube Channel “Warintil Official”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui serta menganalisis interpretasi khalayak berbasis gender terhadap tampilan dan perilaku Warintil Official dalam tayangan “Roma Ulang Tahun“. Tinjuan pustaka terdiri dari delapan penelitian terdahulu yang mencangkup pembahasan mengenai interpretasi khalayak, perilaku cross-dressing dan representasi gender pada sebuah tayangan. Kajian teoritis dalam penelitian ini meliputi media massa, media baru, media sosial, YouTube, audience atau khalayak, gender, transgender dan teori resepsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma penelitian konstruktivis, dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui metode analisis resepsi. Adapun subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 8 informan. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi premier berupa wawancara mendalam dan data sekunder berupa tinjuan literatur dari website, portal berita, buku online, jurnal dan artikel. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Serta, teknik keabsahan data yang digunakan adalah Triangulasi sumber data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada ide konten yang memerankan kontras gender pada YouTube Channel “Warintil Official” informan cenderung berada dalam posisi negosiasi. Sedangkan pada segi dampak yang ditimbulkan oleh tayangan cenderung bervariasi baik itu dominan, negosiasi maupun opisisi.
