Abstract
This research was motivated by the childfree decision of Gita Savitri and her partner. This decision is considered to be contrary to religious and cultural teachings in Indonesia. Gita and her husband's childfree choice was born because of someone's egoism to live happily after being married only to a partner without having offspring or children. The topic of childfree was then raised as a discussion on Kick Andy's YouTube content, with the audience being quite active in interpreting the childfree message from Gita and Couple. Where, the audience thinks that the couple is carrying out a campaign about childfree. This will be dangerous if it becomes the life goal or habit or life style of Indonesian people, because it is feared that the country will experience a population crisis. So, the aim of this research is to determine the reception of the millennial generation in interpreting the childfree decision of Gita Savitri and her partner on Kick Andy's YouTube content. The research will use Stuart Hall's reception theory. Using a critical paradigm with reception analysis methods and a qualitative approach. The research subjects were the millennial generation who watched the childfree Gita episode and couples with different social, educational and family backgrounds. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with 10 informants. The results of the research explain that the informants are divided into 3 positions, namely the dominant hegemony, they receive the message about the childfree choice of Gita and her partner without any rejection or argument, in the dominant position the informant's character is more open minded, according to him childfree is not something that is detrimental or has an impact on the social and cultural environment. or religion. Negotiation position, this informant accepts the childfree life option but in several messages he refuses, negotiations have a character that can take into account the surrounding environment, culture and religion. Then the opposition position, completely rejecting childfree. They have a critical character in assessing a decision or phenomenon that occurs, by considering future circumstances if they choose childfree. The opposition characters also have strong arguments about the childfree life choice. Keywords : Childfree, Gita Savitri, Millennial Generation, Reception Analysis. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya keputusan childfree Gita Savitri dan Pasangan. Keputusan tersebut dinilai bertentangan dengan ajaran agama dan budaya di Indonesia. Pilihan childfree Gita dan suami lahir karena adanya egoisme seseorang untuk hidup bahagia setelah menikah hanya dengan pasangan tanpa memiliki keturunan atau anak. Topik childfree ini kemudian diangkat menjadi pembahasan di Konten Youtube Kick Andy, dengan khalayak penonton yang cukup aktif dalam memaknai pesan childfree dari Gita dan Pasangan. Dimana, khalayak menilai pasangan tersebut melakukan kampanye tentang childfree. Hal tersebut akan menjadi berbahaya jika menjadi tujuan hidup atau kebiasaan atau life style masyarakat Indonesia, karena ditakutkan negara akan mengalami krisis populasi. Maka, tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui resepsi generasi milenial dalam memaknai keputusan childfree Gita Savitri dan Pasangannya pada konten Youtube Kick Andy. Penelitian akan menggunakan teori resepsi dari Stuart Hall. Menggunakan paradigma kritis dengan metode analisis resepsi dan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah generasi milenial yang menonton episode childfree Gita dan pasangan dengan latar belakang sosial, pendidikan, dan keluarga yang berbeda. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan 10 informan. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa informan terbagi menjadi 3 posisi, yaitu hegemoni dominan mereka menerima pesan tentang pilihan childfree Gita dan pasangan tanpa adanya penolakan dan argumen, pada posisis dominan karakter informan lebih open minded menurut nya childfree bukan hal yang merugikan atau berdampak bagi lingkugan sosial , budaya atau agama. Posisi negosiasi, informan ini menerima pilihan hidup childfree namun dibeberapa pesan ia melakukan penolakan, negosiasi memiliki karakter yang dapat mempertimbangkan dengan keadaan lingkungan sekitar, budaya dan agama. Kemudian posisi oposisi, menolak secara penuh childfree. Mereka memiliki karakter yang lebih kritis dalam menilai suatu keputusan atau fenomena yang terjadi, dengan mempertimbangkan keadaan masa depan jika memilih childfree. Karakter oposisi juga memiliki argument yang kuat tentang pilihan hidup childfree. Kata Kunci : Analisis Resepsi, Childfree, Generasi Milenial, Gita Savitri.
