Abstract

Intercultural communication or communication of individuals with different cultures becomes something unique because of the diversity of thinking patterns and experiences they have, so that this becomes a uniqueness in itself but can become an obstacle or even conflict because of the misunderstanding or differences in everyday language which becomes an obstacle in the communication of immigrant communities with indigenous people of the area which in this case is the Betawi people in Kalideres. The purpose of this research is to find out the intercultural communication experience of immigrants with Betawi people in Kalideres with the focus of research namely motives, experiences and meanings. This research uses phenomenological method with qualitative approach. The result of this study is the motive of the migrants with the Betawi people in Kalideres based on Alfred Schutz's theory is in-order to motive. Then, the experience experienced is a pleasant and familial experience. For the meaning following the experience experienced, it is divided into two positive meanings which can be concluded that the meaning of the Betawi people is pleasant (humorous, kind, friendly, like to say hello and ask how are you, like to share food, like to invite to eat together) and the meaning of kinship (like to involve the migrants to Betawi events, open and familiar), then for the negative meaning which can be concluded that based on the results of the study the negative meaning is not a general assessment of the Betawi people in Kalideres but is personal related to individual character. The conclusion of this research is that the meaning formed becomes an integral part of the communication process which is influenced by culture and also the environment and situational context when the communication process takes place as well as by the communication actors themselves, so that both motives, experiences and meanings become a process that cannot be formed but emerges by itself which is influenced by culture and environment which is the context in this study. Keywords : Intercultural Communication, Migrants, Kalideres Betawi People, Experiences Komunikasi antarbudaya atau komunikasi individu yang berbeda budaya menjadi sesuatu yang unik karena keragaman pola berpikir dan pengalaman yang mereka miliki, sehingga ini menjadi sebuah keunikan tersendiri tetapi bisa menjadi suatu hambatan atau bahkan pertentangan karena adanya ketidakpahaman atau perbedaan bahasa sehari-hari yang menjadi hambatan dalam komunikasi masyarakat pendatang dengan masyarakat asli daerah tersebut yang dalam hal ini adalah orang Betawi di Kalideres. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengalaman komunikasi antarbudaya orang pendatang dengan orang Betawi di Kalideres dengan fokus penelitian yaitu motif, pengalaman dan makna. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fenomenologi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu motif para pendatang dengan orang Betawi di Kalideres berdasarkan teori Alfred Schutz adalah in-order to motive . Kemudian, pengalaman yang dialami yaitu pengalaman menyenangkan dan kekeluargaan. Untuk maknanya mengikuti pengalaman yang dialami yaitu dibagi menjadi dua makna positif yang dapat disimpulkan pemaknaan orang Betawi yang menyenangkan (humoris, baik, ramah, suka bertegur sapa dan bertanya kabar, suka bagi – bagi makanan, suka mengajak makan bersama) dan pemaknaan kekeluargaan (suka melibatkan para pendatang ke acara – acara betawi, terbuka dan akrab), kemudian untuk makna negatif yang dapat disimpulkan yaitu berdasarkan hasil penelitian makna negatif bukan menjadi penilaian umum tentang orang Betawi di Kalideres namun bersifat personal terkait karakter individu. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa pemaknaan yang terbentuk menjadi suatu bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari proses komunikasi yang dipengaruhi oleh budaya dan juga lingkungan serta konteks situasional pada saat proses komunikasi berlangsung serta oleh para pelaku komunikasi itu sendiri, sehingga baik motif, pengalaman dan makna menjadi suatu proses yang tidak dapat dibentuk melainkan muncul dengan sendirinya yang dipengaruhi oleh budaya dan lingkungan yang menjadi konteks dalam penelitian ini.
