Abstract

Mental illness or what is often called a mental disorder is a condition where a person will experience several symptoms that attack the physical and psychological and are related to emotions. Like the film "Ku Kira Kau Rumah" which raises the issue of health/mental disorders as its main theme. This film is based on the issue of one of the mental disorders that a person suffers from, namely bipolar disorder. The aim of this research is to represent the mental disorder bipolar disorder with its connotations, denotations and myths through the signs and meanings contained in the film. The theory used in this research is semiotic theory with the Roland Barthes model, then the method used is a qualitative research method with an interpretive approach and the paradigm used is the constructivism paradigm to see social reality which is then built into social construction. The results of this research show that there are signs and meanings contained in the film I think you're home which represents the main character in the film who experiences bipolar disorder. This is depicted through the presence of verbal and non-verbal signs in the film such as dialogue, body gestures, facial expressions, emotions and lighting that supports the film. Keywords : Mental Ilness, Bipolar Disorder, Semiotics, Film Mental illness atau yang sering disebut gangguan mental adalah salah satu kondisi seseorang akan merasakan beberapa gejala-gejala yang menyerang fisik maupun psikis dan berkaitan dengan emosi. Seperti film “Ku Kira Kau Rumah” yang mengangkat isu mengenai kesehatan/gangguan mental sebagai tema utamanya. Film ini dibangun berdasarkan isu salah satu gangguan mental yang diidap oleh seseorang yaitu bipolar disorder. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk merepresentasikan penyakit gangguan mental bipolar disorder dengan konotasi, denotasi dan melalui tanda dan makna yang terdapat pada film tersebut. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teori semiotika dengan model Roland Barthes kemudian metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan interpretatif dan paradigma yang digunakan adalah paradigma konstruktivisme untuk melihat realitas sosial yang kemudian dibangun menjadi konstruksi sosial. Hasil pada penelitian ini menunjukan adanya tanda-tanda dan makna yang terdapat pada film ku kira kau rumah yang merepresentasikan tokoh utama pada film tersebut yang mengalami penyakit gangguan mental bipolar disorder. Hal tersebut digambarkan melalui adanya tanda verbal dan non-verbal dalam film seperti dialog, gestur tubuh, ekspresi wajah, emosi dan pencahayaan yang mendukung pada film tersebut.
