Abstract
The Kaliurang area has been seen as a tourist destination since the Dutch colonial era. In the 19th century, Dutch geologists living in Yogyakarta intended to find a resting place for their families. After the Dutch left Indonesia, Kaliurang was still used as a resting place. Many companies and agencies set up guesthouses in Kaliurang. Initially, these guest houses were only used for the benefit of companies or agencies. But then rented out to the wider community. After getting busier and the Kaliurang area developed into a tourist area and a resting place for the people of Yogyakarta and outside the region. The villa is a small house outside the city or in the mountains which is a vacation home that is only used during holidays. (Big Indonesian Dictionary, 2008). A hotel is an accommodation that utilizes part or all of its parts as lodging services, food and beverage service providers, and various other services for the general public which are managed commercially (Paspostel ministerial decree no Km 94 / HK103 / MPPT, 1987). "The Morogriyo Vilatel of Kalioerang, Sleman" is a resort area in the form of villas and hotels which are expected to meet the needs of tourists' accommodation and also to help the economy of the surrounding community by opening jobs and cooperating in area management. Villas and hotels are designed with the theme "Vernacular Architecture", and with a "Colonial concept approach by combining traditional Javanese buildings and houses with European styles and incorporating elements of Javanese cosmology philosophy". With this concept, it is hoped that it will preserve history and maintain the culture of Central Java. Kawasan Kaliurang sudah dipandang sebagai tujuan wisata sejak zaman penjajahan Belanda. Pada abad 19, para ahli geologi Belanda yang tinggal di Yogyakarta bermaksud mencari tempat peristirahatan bagi keluarga mereka. Setelah Belanda meninggalkan Indonesia, Kaliurang tetap dijadikan tempat peristirahatan. Banyak perusahaan dan instansi mendirikan wisma di Kaliurang. Pada awalnya, wisma-wisma tersebut hanya digunakan untuk kepentingan perusahaan atau instansi. Namun kemudian disewakan untuk masyarakat luas. Setelah semakin ramai dan kawasan Kaliurang berkembang menjadi sebuah kawasan wisata dan peristirahan bagi masyarakat Yogyakarta maupun luar daerah. Villa adalah sebuah rumah mungil di luar kota atau di pegunungan yang merupakan rumah peristirahatan yang hanya digunakan pada waktu liburan. (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, 2008). Hotel merupakan sebuah akomodasi yang memanfaatkan sebagian ataupun seluruh bagiannya sebagai layanan jasa penginapan, layanan penyedia makanan dan minuman, serta berbagai macam jasa lainnya untuk masyarakat umum yang dikelola dengan cara komersial (Keputusan menteri Paspostel no Km 94/HK103/MPPT, 1987). “The Morogriyo Vilatel of Kalioerang, Sleman” adalah sebuah kawasan peristirahatan berupa villa dan hotel yang diharapkan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan penginapan wisatawan dan juga dapat membantu perekonomian masyarakat sekitar dengan membuka lapangan pekerjaan serta bekerjasama dalam hal pengelolaan kawasan. Villa dan hotel dirancang dengan tema “Arsitektur Vernakuler”, dan dengan pendekatan konsep “Kolonial dengan memadukan antara bangunan adat jawa dan rumah dengan gaya eropa dan dengan memasukan unsur filosofi kosmologi jawa”. Dengan konsep tersebut diharapkan agar tetap melestarikan sejarah dan tetap menjaga kebudayaan Jawa Tengah.
