Abstract

Film is an audio-visual communication medium to convey a message to a group of people gathered in a certain place. the writer as the director implements the mise en scene theory as the main theory Mise en scene is a creative form of a director in visualizing a script into an audio visual work by determining the placement of the images to be made in each shot of the film. The process of placing an image is not only centered on talent, but other elements that will appear in the resulting image, be it from the setting (setting of place and time), property, lighting, make-up, or wardrobe. The placement of this image is a form of visual expression from a text that has been understood and understood, as well as a form of concrete embodiment of the story to be told to the audience. Based on the results of the production of the short film "Kontradiksi", the writer as the director is in charge of leading and directing the crew, talent, and is responsible for everything that happens in every scene in the film production. It's like, the director becomes the creative head in translating what's on the paper into audio-visual. The writer as the director plays a very important role in the entire film production process, from pre-production, production, to postproduction. Keywords: Short film, Mise en scene, Director. Film adalah media komunikasi yang bersifat audio visual untuk menyampaikan suatu pesan kepada sekelompok orang yang berkumpul di suatu tempat tertentu. penulis sebagai sutradara mengimplementasikan teori mise en scene sebagai teori utama Mise en scene adalah bentuk kreativitas seorang sutradara terhadap visualisasi naskah ke dalam karya audio visual yakni dengan menentukan penempatan gambar yang akan dibuat dalam tiap shot film. Dalam proses penempatan gambar tidak hanya berpusat kepada talent saja, tetapi elemen-elemen lainnya yang akan tampak pada gambar yang dihasilkan, baik itu dari setting (latar tempat dan waktu), property, lighting, make-up, maupun wardrobe. Penempatan gambar ini merupakan bentuk ungkapan visual dari naskah yang telah dipahami dan dimengerti, serta sebagai bentuk perwujudan konkret dari cerita yang hendak dikisahkan kepada audiens. Berdasarkan hasil produksi film pendek “Kontradiksi”, penulis sebagai sutradara bertugas untuk memimpin dan mengarahkan crew, talent, serta bertanggung jawab atas segala sesuatu yang terjadi di tiap-tiap adegan dalam produksi film. Ibaratnya, sutradara menjadi kepala kreatif dalam menerjemahkan apa yang ada di dalam kertas menjadi audio visual. Penulis sebagai sutradara sangat berperan penting dalam seluruh proses produksi film, mulai dari pra produksi, produksi, sampai pasca produksi. Kata Kunci: Film pendek, Mise en scene, Sutradara
