Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is a tremendous challenge for companies around the world, especially in Indonesia. The role of employees who have high work engagement is needed for the survival of a company. This study aims to determine whether career adaptability has a role as a mediator of the relationship between emotional intelligence and work engagement in private company employees in the Jabodetabek area in a COVID-19 pandemic situation. This research approach uses quantitative methods through a mediation regression process and accidental sampling techniques. The population in this study were employees who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic. The subjects in this study were 426 employees who worked in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi areas. The mediation regression analysis in this study used the PROCESS V3.5 Procedure for SPSS by Andrew F. Hayes. The data collection technique in this study is a literature review obtained from journals, books, literature, previous research and questionnaires. This study shows that career adaptability acts as a mediator of the relationship between emotional intelligence and work engagement, this shows that the effect of emotional intelligence and work engagement will increase with career adaptability. This research is expected to be a reference for employees and companies regarding the importance of understanding the values of emotional intelligence, career adaptation and work engagement. So that employees are able to adapt to career development to increase work engagement. Keywords: emotional intelligence, career adaptability, work engagement, new normal, employees. Pandemi COVID-19 merupakan sebuah tantangan yang luar biasa bagi perusahaan diseluruh dunia khususnya di Indonesia. Peran karyawan yang memiliki work engagement yang tinggi sangat dibutuhkan untuk bertahannya sebuah perusahaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah career adaptability memiliki peran sebagai mediator hubungan antara emotional intelligence dan work engagement pada karyawan perusahaan swasta di wilayah Jabodetabek dalam situasi pandemi COVID- 19. Pendekatan penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif melalui proses regresi mediasi dan teknik accidental sampling. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah karyawan yang bekerja dimasa pandemi COVID-19. Subjek pada penelitian ini karyawan yang bekerja di wilayah Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang dan Bekasi. Analisis regresi mediasi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan PROCESS V3.5 Procedure for SPSS oleh Andrew F. Hayes. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dengan tinjauan pustaka yang didapatkan dari jurnal, buku, literatur, penelitian terdahulu dan penyebaran kuesioner. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa career adaptability berperan sebagai mediator hubungan antara emotional intelligence dan work engagement, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh emotional intelligence dan work engagement akan meningkat dengan adanya career adaptability. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan bagi karyawan dan perusahaan mengenai pentingnya memahami nilai-nilai dari emotional intelligence, career adaptability dan work engagement. Sehingga karyawan mampu beradaptasi terhadap perkembangan karir untuk meningkatkan work engagement. Kata Kunci : emotional intelligence, career adaptability, work engagement, new normal, karyawan
