Abstract

Nata Nagara Typeface is a custom or display typeface inspired by the basic form of the Sundanese script. This final project design work is present as part of the design of modern typographical works of Latin script which has the form of Sundanese Baku characters that can be used in digital media such as computers and today's graphic media and can add to the treasury of types or forms of Latin letters with the formation of local Nusantara script, especially Sundanese script that will be used by the public. This design uses qualitative data collection methods and descriptive analysis with the stages of content analysis in the process of studying character formation and designing it based on research problems. By always paying attention to design principles, typographical principles, and letter anatomy to maintain readability-focused performance in reading, the creative process of exploring and developing letterforms with the Sundanese script form approach is carried out by applying systematic design science to produce accurate visual design works and make it easier for the audience to understand published design work. The development of letter forms using the Sundanese script approach is a creative exploration of developing the form of the Standard Sundanese script into models of Latin letterforms without losing the essence of the basic forms of letters and numbers and still has legibility according to the sound of the letters. Keywords: Typography, Sundanese Script, Letter Design Nata Nagara Typeface merupakan custome atau display typeface yang terinspirasi dari bentuk dasar aksara Sunda Baku. Karya perancangan tugas akhir ini hadir sebagai bagian dari perancangan karya tipografi modern aksara latin yang mempunyai kebentukan karakter aksara Sunda Baku yang dapat digunakan pada media digital seperti computer dan media grafis masa kini serta dapat menambah perbendaharaan jenis atau bentuk huruf latin dengan kebentukan aksara lokal Nusantara terutama aksara Sunda yang akan digunakan oleh masyarakat. Perancangan ini menggunakan metode pengumpulan data kualitatif dan analisis deskriptif dengan tahapan analisis konten dalam proses studi karakter kebentukan dan merancangnya berdasarkan masalah penelitian. Dengan selalu memperhatikan prinsip desain, prinsip tipografi, dan anatomi huruf untuk menjaga kinerja fokus keterbacaan dalam membaca, dalam proses kreatifnya mengeksplorasi dan mengembangkan bentuk huruf dengan pendekatan bentuk aksara Sunda dilakukan dengan menerapkan keilmuan desain yang sistematis untuk menghasilkan karya desain visual akurat serta memudahkan audiens untuk memahami karya perancangan yang dipublikasikan. Pengembangan bentuk huruf dengan menggunakan pendekatan aksara sunda merupakan ekplorasi kreatif dalam untuk mengembangkan kebentukan aksara Sunda Baku kedalam model-model bentuk huruf latin tanpa menghilangkan esensi bentuk dasar huruf dan angkanya, dan tetap mempunyai keterbacaan sesuai bunyi huruf tersebut.
