Abstract

Sidewalk is a place or space for pedestrians to carry out activities and to provide services to pedestrians so as to improve the smoothness, safety, and comfort for pedestrians. Sidewalks can also trigger social interaction between communities if they function as a public space (Iswanto, 2006). Most cities in Indonesia, almost always found a similar problem regarding the use of sidewalks. The existence of the sidewalk does not function as it should, and it seems as if the laws or regulations that have been enacted are toothless or half-hearted in regulating and taking action against violators. It is easy for these violations to be discovered by naked eye, but it seems as if they are a common sight and not a big problem. Seeing the development of the city and the existing cultural forms, it can be through the use of the existence of public spaces, especially pedestrian paths which get the largest quantity in the city's public spaces and are also opened to various corners of the city because it is an access point for community circulation. Keywords : sidewalk; pedestrian; Level Of Service Trotoar merupakan wadah atau ruang untuk kegiatan pejalan kaki melakuka aktivitas dan untuk memberikan pelayanan kepada pejalan kaki sehingga dapat meningkatkan kelancaran, keamanan, dan kenyamanan bagi pejalan kaki. Trotoar juga dapat memicu interaksi social antar masyarakat apabila berfungsi sebagai suatu ruang public (Iswanto, 2006). Sebagian besar kota di Indonesia, hampir selalu ditemukan masalah yang serupa mengenai pemanfaatan trotoar. Keberadaan trotoar tidak berfungsi sebagai mana mestinya, dan seolah-olah undang-undang atau peraturan yang telah ditetapkan tidak bergigi atau setengah hati dalam mengatur dan menindak para pelanggarnya. Mudah sekali pelanggaranpelanggaran tersebut ditemukan secara kasat mata, namun seolah hal itu menjadi pemandangan yang biasa dan bukan persoalan besar. Melihat perkembangan kota serta bentuk budaya yang ada, dapat melalui penggunaan keberadaan ruang publiknya terutama jalur pejalan kaki dimana mendapat kuantitas terbesar dalam ruang publik kota dan juga terangun ke berbagai sudut kota karena merupakan jalur akses sirkulasi masyarakat.
