Abstract

The design of an Islamic boarding school based on the principles of a natural school with a contextual architectural approach represents an innovative concept that merges religious education with the tenets of experiential learning in an architectural environment that considers contextual factors. Islamic boarding schools, known as "pondok pesantren," have long been an integral part of Indonesia's educational culture, focusing on Islamic teachings. However, in response to the changing times, a new approach is required that integrates religious values with a broader understanding of nature and the environment. The natural school approach emphasizes learning through direct interaction with the environment, extending beyond the confines of traditional classrooms. Within the context of the Islamic boarding school, this approach can yield a more profound and holistic learning experience, combining religious education with an appreciation of the natural surroundings. This has the potential to nurture a generation that possesses not only a strong religious foundation but also a sense of environmental awareness and responsibility. The contextual architectural approach in the design of the Islamic boarding school involves the use of forms, materials, and architectural styles that harmonize with the surrounding environment. Thoughtful integration of architecture creates an atmosphere conducive to both learning and worship, while respecting local cultural values. Furthermore, incorporating environmentally friendly technology and sustainable resources into the building's design and construction will be a pivotal aspect of this approach. By amalgamating the principles of the natural school and contextual architecture, the design of the Islamic boarding school aims to establish an educational environment that seamlessly blends spirituality, knowledge, and a commitment to environmental preservation. Through this approach, the Islamic boarding school is envisioned as an inspirational center of learning, producing graduates who are not only academically and religiously proficient but also deeply conscious of and involved in the well-being of the environment and local community Keywords: Education, Natural Schools, Islamic Boarding Schools Perancangan pondok pesantren berbasis sekolah alam dengan pendekatan arsitektur kontekstual merupakan konsep inovatif yang menggabungkan pendidikan agama dengan prinsip-prinsip pendidikan alam dalam suatu lingkungan arsitektur yang mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor kontekstual. Pondok pesantren sebagai pusat pendidikan agama Islam telah menjadi bagian integral dari budaya pendidikan di Indonesia. Namun, dalam menghadapi perkembangan zaman, diperlukan pendekatan baru yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai agama dengan pemahaman yang lebih luas tentang alam dan lingkungan. Pendekatan sekolah alam menekankan pada pembelajaran yang terjadi melalui interaksi langsung dengan alam, di luar ruang kelas konvensional. Dalam konteks pondok pesantren, pendekatan ini dapat menghasilkan pengalaman belajar yang lebih mendalam dan holistik, dengan memadukan pembelajaran agama dengan pemahaman tentang lingkungan alam sekitar. Hal ini berpotensi menghasilkan generasi muda yang tidak hanya memiliki pengetahuan agama yang kuat, tetapi juga peduli dan bertanggung jawab terhadap kelestarian lingkungan. Pendekatan arsitektur kontekstual dalam perancangan pondok pesantren ini mengacu pada penggunaan bentuk, bahan, dan gaya arsitektur yang harmonis dengan lingkungan sekitarnya. Arsitektur yang terintegrasi dengan baik akan menciptakan suasana yang kondusif untuk pembelajaran dan ibadah, sambil tetap mempertimbangkan nilai-nilai budaya lokal. Selain itu, penggunaan teknologi ramah lingkungan dan sumber daya terbarukan dalam desain dan konstruksi bangunan akan menjadi bagian penting dari pendekatan ini. Dengan menggabungkan pendekatan sekolah alam dan arsitektur kontekstual, perancangan pondok pesantren ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan yang memadukan spiritualitas, pengetahuan, dan keterlibatan dalam pelestarian lingkungan. Melalui pendekatan ini, diharapkan pondok pesantren dapat menjadi pusat pembelajaran yang inspiratif, yang tidak hanya menghasilkan lulusan yang cerdas secara akademik dan religius, tetapi juga peduli terhadap alam dan masyarakat sekitarnya.
