Abstract

In this study, researchers aimed to see whether there was a relationship between Emotion-Focused Coping, which is a strategy to reduce stress or pressure that is being experienced and Motivation to smoke, which is an encouragement or motivation for individuals to smoke, against student smokers at the University. X. The number of subjects taken was 100 respondents who were active students and smokers. Measuring instruments used in this research are Emotion-Foused Coping, Lazarus and Folkman (1984) in Muchlisin and Putri (2018), and Smoking Motivation measurement tools (Russell and West, (1974) (in Jiang, et.al, 2014). The results of this study indicate a correlation value of 0.338, which means there is a correlation and shows a positive direction between Emotion-Focused Coping and smoking motivation in female student smokers. The results of a significant value of 0.001 where the significant value is less than 0.05, it can be It is said that there is a relationship between Emotion-Focused Coping and smoking motivation in female smokers at University X, where the higher the Emotion-Focused Coping score, the higher the motivation to smoke.Keywords : Emotion-Focused Coping, Smoking Motivation. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti memiliki tujuan untuk melihat apakah terdapat hubungan antara Emotion-Focused Coping yaitu merupakan salah satu strategi untuk mengurangi stress atau tekanan yang sedang dialami dan Motivasi Merokok yaitu ialah sebuah dorongan atau motivasi pada individu untuk melakukan merokok, terhadap Mahasiswi Perokok di Universitas X. Jumlah subjek yang diambil ialah 100 responden yang merupakan Mahasiswi aktif dan perokok. Alat ukur yang digunakan didalam penelitian ini ialah alat ukur Emotion-Foused Coping, Lazarus dan Folkman (1984) dalam Muchlisin dan Putri (2018), dan alat ukur Motivasi Merokok (Russell dan West, (1974) (dalam Jiang, et.al, 2014). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,338 yang dimana artinya ada korelasi dan menunjukkan ke arah yang positif antara Emotion-Focused Coping dan motivasi merokok pada mahasiswi perokok. Hasil nilai signifikan sebesar 0,001 dimana nilai signifikan lebih kecil dari 0,05 maka dapat dikatakan terdapat hubungan antara Emotion-Focused Coping dan motivasi merokok pada mahasiswi perokok di Universitas x, dimana semakin tinggi skor Emotion-Focused Coping maka semakin tinggi juga Motivasi untuk merokok.
