Abstract

Cigarette case is a fashionable accessory in smoking culture, especially among men. Since the first, cigarette boxes have many changes, from being just a metal box which was popular during the world war among soldiers to nowadays cigarette case continue to evolve with various forms, functions, and increasingly attractive appearance. However, not many people design cigarette case with environmental issues in mind. With the increasing number of smokers the effect is getting worse for the environment, especially for smokers who have bad habits in disposing of the cigarette waste they leave behind. In some cases, smokers have difficulty disposing of ashes and cigarette tips because there is no place to dispose of ash and cigarette butts where they should be, so they throw them away carelessly. For this reason, the authors feel that this problem is a factor in the need for a place to dispose of cigarette ashes and butts which should always be available when the smoker is doing his smoking activities. In designing a cigarette box with a temporary ashtray, the author uses resin as the base material which has been tested for its durability aspects and resin material is quite easy to apply with dye materials. In this case the author is inspired by visual of the galaxy to be applied as an aesthetic value to the design of this product. Apart from being an identity that you want to build, it is also a differentiator from similar products that have been circulating in the market which seems to have the same appearance. Keyword : Cigarette case, Astray, Resin, Galaxy Kotak rokok adalah aksesoris modis dalam budaya merokok, terutama dikalangan para pria. Sejak dulu kotak rokok mengalami banyak perubahan dari mulai hanya sebuah kotak logam yang populer pada masa perang dunia dikalangan para prajurit hingga kini kotak rokok terus berevolusi dengan adanya macam-macam bentuk, fungsi, dan tampilan yang semakin menarik. Namun tidak banyak yang mendesain kotak rokok dengan memperhatikan aspek masalah lingkungan. Dengan semakin meningkatnya jumlah perokok berakibat semakin buruk bagi lingkungan, khusunya bagi perokok yang memiliki kebiasaan buruk dalam membuang sampah rokok yang ditinggalkanya. Di beberapa kasus, perokok memiliki kesulitan untuk membuang abu dan putung rokok karena tidak tersedianya tempat untuk membuang abu dan putung rokok pada tempat seharusnya, sehingga mereka membuangnya dengan sembarangan. untuk itu penulis merasa masalah tersebut menjadi salah satu faktor dalam dibutuhkanya suatu tempat untuk membuang abu dan puntung rokok yang seharusnya selalu tersedia ketika perokok tersebut melakukan aktifitas merokonya. Pada perancangan kotak rokok ini penulis menggunakan material resin sebagai material dasarnya yang telah teruji untuk aspek ketahananya dan juga material resin cukup mudah diaplikasikan dengan material pewarna. Dalam hal ini penulis terinspirasi dari corak galaksi untuk di aplikasikan sebagai nilai estetik pada rancangan produk ini. Selain sebagai identitas yang ingin dibangun, juga sebagai pembeda dari produk sejenis yang telah beredar dipasaran yang terkesan memiliki tampilan yang itu-itu saja.
