Abstract

In its development, adolescents are expected to be able to make good social adjustments. One of the determinants of good social adjustment is the ability to selfdisclosure. In today's internet era, Instagram is the medium for self-disclosure that is most in demand by teenagers. The inability to do self-disclosure will result in adolescents experiencing alienation or alienation. Besides, self-disclosure also affects a person's self-esteem. Teenagers who have high self-esteem will present themselves on Instagram without worrying about people's judgment, without comparing themselves with other users, on the other hand teenagers with low selfesteem will upload something on Instagram then they see themselves negatively, comparing themselves worse than other people. others finally deleted the upload, so they failed to do self-disclosure. If this is repeated continuously, teenagers with low self-esteem will feel alienated from their friends, feeling left out from their group. This study aims to determine the effect of Self-Disclosure through Instagram media on Alienation in adolescents with Self-Esteem as a mediator. The population in the study were all high school students in the West Jakarta area. The number of research samples is 289 students. The sampling method used is probability sampling with the cluster sampling technique. The measurement tools used are the Self-Disclosure Scale (Altman & Taylor, 1973), the Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) and the Alienation Scale (Seeman, 1959). Quantitative Research Design with Survey Methods. Data processing uses SPSS 25 with multiple linear regression data analysis. The results of this study conclude that Self-Disclosure through Instagram media has a significant effect on Alienation only when it comes to Self-Esteem. With an Unstandardized Indirect Effect value of 0.3691 and a 95% Confidence Interval in the range of 0.1783 to 0.5478. Teenagers are advised to build self-esteem through Instagram, such as posting things that build confidence, or viewing quality content that can build self-confidence. Keywords: Self-Disclosure, Self-Esteem, Alienation, Adolescents, Instagram Pada perkembangannya, remaja diharapkan dapat melakukan penyesuaian sosial yang baik. Salah satu penentu penyesuaian sosial yang baik adalah kemampuan Self Disclosure (pengungkapan diri). Pada era internet sekarang ini, instagram menjadi media self disclosure yang paling diminati oleh remaja. Ketidakmampuan melakukan self disclosure akan mengakibatkan remaja mengalami keterasingan atau alienasi. Disamping itu self disclosure juga mempengaruhi self esteem seseorang. Remaja yang memiliki self esteem tinggi akan menampilkan dirinya di instagram tanpa merasa khawatir akan penilaian orang, tanpa membandingkan dirinya dengan pengguna lain, sebaliknya remaja dengan self esteem rendah akan mengunggah sesuatu di instagram kemudian dia melihat dirinya secara negatif, ,membandingkan dirinya lebih jelek dari orang lain akhirnya menghapus unggahannya itu, sehingga gagal melakukan self disclosure. Jika hal ini berulang terus menerus, remaja dengan self esteem rendah akan merasa terasing dari teman-temannya, merasa tersisihkan dari kelompoknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Self-Disclosure melalui media instagram terhadap Alienasi pada remaja dengan Self-Esteem sebagai mediator. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa SMA di kawasan Jakarta Barat. Jumlah sampel penelitian 289 siswa. Metode Sampling yang digunakan adalah Probability Sampling dengan Teknik Cluster Sampling. Alat ukur yang dipakai adalah Skala Self-Disclosure (Altman & Taylor, 1973), Skala Self-Esteem (Rosenberg, 1965) dan Skala Alienasi (Seeman, 1959). Desain Penelitian Kuantitatif dengan Metode Survei. Pengolahan data menggunakan SPSS 25 dengan analisis data Regresi Linear Berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Self-Disclosure melalui media instagram berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Alienasi hanya jika mengenai SelfEsteem. Dengan hasil nilai Unstandardized Indirect Effect sebesar 0,3691 dan dengan Confidence Interval 95% ada pada rentang 0,1783 hingga 0,5478. Remaja disarankan dapat membangun self esteem melalui Instagram, seperti mengunggah hal-hal yang membangun kepercayaan diri, atau melihat konten-konten berkualitas yang bisa membangun kepercayaan dirinya.
