Abstract
Modern era in the life of indigenous people, especially Baduy people, in their daily life still cannot be separated from strict customary rules. Formal education which is prohibited by customary regulations, makes the community taboo on education. However, the existence of a community that is dedicated to education even though it is non-formal education is still overshadowed by a sense of concern about the prevailing traditional regulations. The establishment of a community among the strict force of customary regulations becomes a complex problem when juxtaposed with the goals of the community itself. The theory put forward by William G Scoot which contains about 5 factors that influence the communication process and also as one of the determinants of an intercultural communication process running effectively including the act, the scene, the agent, the agency and the purpose. This theory is felt to make it easier for researchers to find out how the process of intercultural communication in the Reading Baduy Community in Outer Baduy. As for the other purpose of this research, the researcher wanted to find out how people's acceptance of the Baduy Reading Community. The type of research used is descriptive, the method used in research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Where researchers collect data by in-depth interviews and observations. In the process that intercultural communication in the Baduy Reading Community has its own uniqueness, it can be seen in the adoption of an external culture in the form of education where in the process there is a clash of languages in terms of delivery of lessons, then in counting lessons still use simple tools such as bamboo made like Puncture meatballs. Keywords: Intercultural Communication, Baduy, Education and Customary Regulations Dizaman modern pada kehidupan masyarakat adat khususnya masyarakat Baduy, dalam kesehariannya tetap tidak lepas dari peraturan adat yang ketat. Pendidikan formal yang dilarang oleh peraturan adat, membuat masyaraktanya tabu akan pendidikan. Namun adanya komunitas yang berdedikasi terhadap pendidikan sekalipun termasuk pendidikan non formal tetap dibayangi rasa kekhawatiran akan peraturan adat yang berlaku. Berdirinya suatu Komunitas diantara himpitan peraturan adat yang ketat menjadi sebuah permasalahan yang rumit ketika disandingkan dengan tujuan komunitas itu sendiri. Teori yang dikemukakan oleh William G Scoot yang berisi tentang 5 faktor yang mempengaruhi proses komunikasi dan juga sebagai salah satu penentu sebuah proses komunikasi antarbudaya berjalan efektif diantaranya yaitu the act (perbuatan), the scene (adegan), the agent (pelaku), the agency (perantara), dan the purpose (tujuan). Teori ini dirasa dapat mempermudah peneliti untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses komunikasi antarbudaya pada Komunitas Baduy Membaca di Baduy Luar. Adapun tujuan lain diadakannya penelitian ini, peneliti ingin mengetahui bagaimana penerimaan masyarakat terhadap Komunitas Baduy Membaca. Tipe penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif, metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Dimana peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan cara wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Dalam prosesnya bahwa komunikasi antarbudaya yang ada di Komunitas Baduy Membaca, memiliki ke unikan tersendiri hal tersebut terlihat pada pengadopsian budaya luar yang berupa pendidikan dimana dalam prosesnya memiliki benturan bahasa dalam hal penyampaian pelajaran, kemudian dalam pelajaran berhitung masih menggunakan alat yang sederhana seperti bambu dibuat seperti tusukan baso.
