Abstract

This applicative final project aims to convey a message using an audio-visual work that is designed using an observational approach to obtain factual information and data as well as a 3-act chaining technique starting from the beginning which contains an introduction to the place and sources and conflicts, then at the middle stage contains the core of the film. namely the experience and how to work as gravediggers during the COVID-19 pandemic, in the final stage containing the hopes of gravediggers and other communities to convey a sense of enthusiasm to the audience. The documentary film "COVID-19 Grave Digger" is a type of portrait documentary in the style of an observational documentary that does not use the narrator as a voice actor so that the subject will directly explain the story and the director is the observer. The presentation of the problem presents an explanation from the results of interviews from various sources, namely grave diggers which will strengthen the storyline. The final result of this production is an audio visual work with a 22 minute documentary film. The director plays a role in creating an interesting work from the ideas that are sparked or given from the scriptwriter and designing the overall production process in making the film. The director composes the story from the sources along with the narration that will be used in this documentary. Even though using narration, as a director, he tries to use visuals in conveying a message to the audience. Where it is more dominant to use narration, interviews from sources. Keywords: Documentary Film, Director's Role, Grave Digger Karya tugas akhir aplikatif ini bertujuan untuk menyampaikan pesan menggunakan sebuah karya audio visual yang dirancang menggunakan pendekatan observasi guna mendapatkan informasi dan data yang faktual serta teknik perangkaian 3 babak dimulai dari awal yang berisi pengenalan tempat dan narasumber dan konflik, lalu pada tahapan tengah berisi inti film yaitu penglaman serta bagaimana aktivitas kerja sebagai penggali kubur dimasa pandemi COVID-19, pada tahapan akhir berisi harapan-harapan penggali kubur dan masyarakat lainnya untuk memerikan rasa semangat kepada penonoton. Dua tahun selama pandemi COVID-19 terjadi di Indonesia yang telah mengorbankan banyak nyawa berguguran. Dibalik pandemi ini, terdapat kisah perjuangan seorang tukang gali kubur dalam melakukan pekerjaannya di era pandemi COVID-19. Film dokumenter “Penggali Kubur Di Masa Pandemi COVID-19” merupakan sebuah jenis film dokumenter potret dengan gaya film dokumenter observasi yang tidak menggunakan narrator sebagai pengisi suara sehingga subjek yang akan menjelaskan langsung kisahnya dan sutradara sebagai pengamat. Pemaparan masalah menayangkan penjelasan dari hasil wawancara dari berbagai narasumber yaitu penggali kubur yang akan memperkuat jalan cerita. Hasil akhir pada produksi ini berupa karya audio visual dengan film dokumenter berdurasi 22 menit 58 detik. Sutradara berperan dalam menciptakan sebuah hasil karya yang menarik dari ide yang dicetuskan atau diberikan dari penulis naskah serta merancang proses keseluruhan produksi dalam pembuatan film tersebut. Sutradara menyusun cerita dari narasumber beserta narasi yang akan digunakan pada film dokumenter ini. Meskipun menggunakan narasi, sebagai sutradara berusaha untuk menggunakan visual dalam menyampaikan pesan kepada penonton. Dimana lebih dominan menggunakan narasi, wawancara dari narasumber.
