Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh COVID-19 dimana menyebabkan perubahan yang begitu signifikan di dunia Pendidikan khususnya pada sistem pembelajarannya. Seluruh pembelajaran dilakukan secara daring yang membutuhkan beberapa media penunjang dalam melakukannya baik dari dosen maupun mahasiswa nya. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori penetrasi sosial Dan teori komunikasi interpersonal untuk membantu menguatkan hasil dalam pembahasan dalam penelitian ini. Maka dari itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seperti apa komunikasi yang dilakukan antara dosen dan mahasiswa dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi WhatsApp selama melakukan perkuliahan daring. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara secara mendalam terhadap 10 informan yang merupakan dosen dan mahasiswa FIKOM Universitas Mercu Buana Jatisampurna yang menggunakan whatsapp sebagai media komunikasi selama perkuliahan daring. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu pemanfaatan whatsapp sebagai media komunikasi sangat membantu proses perkuliahan diihat baik bagi dosen dan mahasiswa,terutama dengan dibuatnya whatsapp group itu membuat hubungan dosen dan mahasiswa terjalin dengan baik karena komunikasi yang dilakukan juga berjalan dengan sangat efektif. Kata Kunci : Media Komunikasi, Whatsapp, Komunikasi Interpersonal ABSTRACT This research was motivated by COVID-19 which caused significant changes in the world of education, especially in the learning system. All learning is done online which requires several supporting media in doing so from both the lecturers and students. This study uses social penetration theory and interpersonal communication theory to help strengthen the results in the discussion in this study. Therefore, this study aims to find out what kind of communication is done between lecturers and students by utilizing the WhatsApp application during online lectures. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using constructivism paradigm. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with 10 informants who were lecturers and students of FIKOM Mercu Buana Jatisampurna University who used whatsapp as a communication medium during online lectures. The results of this study are that the use of whatsapp as a communication medium is very helpful for the lecture process to be seen both for lecturers and students, especially with the creation of a whatsapp group that makes the relationship between lecturers and students well established because the communication carried out also runs very effectively.
