Abstract
In the development of the times, film has always been a medium of mass communication to convey a verbal and non-verbal message.In the filming of the short drama "Reality Love" the role of the director applied the theory and concept of directing. In the filming of "Reality Love" the director applied the Theory of Screen Direction as a concept to the film. Screen direction is the direction in which an actor or object appears to move on the screen from the point of view of the camera or the audience. The existence of screen direction is to ensure the consistency of the position of each object in the frame including actors so that they are not confused or turned back into the editing stage. This will affect the audience's perception of the aired plot so it is very important to make sure it is in accordance with the story you want to build and a director has to make sure of that. Based on the results of the design of the film "Reality Love" using this Screen Direction concept, the author concluded that a director must be able to make the best decisions and consider every input from the entire crew. It requires teamwork in filmmaking as well as good and careful planning to facilitate the production process. Keywords : Short Film, Screen Direction, Director. Dalam perkembagan zaman, film selalu menjadi media komunikasi massa untuk menyampaikan sebuah pesan verbal dan non verbal. Dalam pembuatan film drama pendek “Reality Love” peran sutradara mengaplikasikan teori dan konsep penyutradaraan. Pada pembuatan film “Reality Love” sutradara melakukan pengaplikasian teori Screen Direction sebagai konsep pada film tersebut. Screen direction adalah arah yang aktor atau objek tampak bergerak di layar dari sudut pandang dari kamera atau penonton. Adanya screen direction adalah untuk memastikan konsistensi posisi setiap objek dalam frame termasuk aktor agar tidak tertukar atau terbolak - balik memasuki tahap editing. Hal ini akan memperngaruhi persepsi penonton terhadap alur yang ditayangkan sehingga sangat penting untuk memastikan hal tersebut sesuai dengan cerita yang ingin dibangun dan seorang sutradara harus memastikan hal tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil perancangan film “Reality Love” dengan memakai konsep Screen Direction ini, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa seorang sutradara harus mampu mengambil keputusan terbaik dan mempertimbangkan setiap masukan dari seluruh kru. Dibutuhkan kerjasama tim dalam pembuatan film serta perencanaan yang baik dan matang untuk memudahkan proses produksi. Kata Kunci : Film Pendek, Screen Direction, Sutradara.
