Abstract

In the development of the times, films have always been a medium of mass communication to convey a verbal and non-verbal message. In making the short drama film "Hasrat" the role of the director applies the theory and concept of directing. In making the film "Hasrat" the director applied the theory of Mise En Scene as a concept in the film. Mise en scene consists of four elements, namely; setting, costumes and make-up, lighting and actors. In all these elements cannot stand alone and are closely related to cinematic elements such as cinematography, sound and editing. Because the elements of mise en scene are combined and matched with cinematic elements, a unified and harmonious whole will be formed to be conveyed to the audience. In the production of the film "Hasrat" the director adjusted the story and added emphasis to the concept of Mise En Scene. Like a suitable costume used, Make Up that fits the concept of the film, Set Up a place that fits the concept of the story and also Blocking that fits to get the frame that fits the scene. Keywords: Short Film, Mise En Scene, Director.
