Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected education systems around the world, including universities. In response, UNESCO recommends the use of distance learning programs. The focus of this research is to find out how the impact of the spread of the covid19 pandemic on communication patterns in online learning of UMB broadcasting lecturers and students. This study aims to determine the description of learning communication patterns, especially in the UMB broadcasting study program and how effective the use of distance communication by UMB broadcasting students is during the pandemic attack of the covid-19 outbreak. This research uses theoretical studies which include the definition of communication, the importance of communication, the elements of communication, the communication process, the level of communication, the definition of new media, the definition of the Internet, communication patterns (primary, secondary, linear, and circular), types of communication patterns, communication in online networks, and online learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The research method used is a case study by conducting in-depth interviews with resource persons. Based on the results of research and discussion, the following conclusions can be drawn, each communication pattern has its own advantages and disadvantages in online learning for lecturers and students of the UMB broadcasting study program. Lecturers and students must also work together in dealing with obstacles that occur during the online learning process, even though the Covid-19 pandemic has made changes to communication patterns during online learning, lecturers and students must adapt to the current situation and try their best so that the learning process continues to run well. Keywords: Communication Patterns, Online Learning, Communication, Qualitative. Pandemi COVID-19 telah mempengaruhi sistem pendidikan di seluruh dunia, salah satunya perguruan tinggi. Menanggapi hal tersebut, UNESCO merekomendasikan penggunaan program pembelajaran jarak jauh (distance learning). Fokus pada penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana dampak dari menyebarnya pandemi covid19 terhadap pola komunikasi dalam pembelajaran online dosen dan mahasiswa broadcasting UMB. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran dari pola komunikasi pembelajaran khususnya pada program studi broadcasting UMB dan seberapa efetifkah pengunaan komunikasi jarak jauh oleh mahasiswa broadcasting UMB dalam masa pandemi serangan wabah covid-19 ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan kajian teoritis yang meliputi Pengertian Komunikasi, Pentingnya Komunikasi, Unsur-Unsur Komunikasi, Proses Komunikasi, Tingkatan Komunikasi, Pengertian New Media, Pengertian Internet, Pola Komunikasi (Primer, Sekunder, Linear, dan Sirkular), Jenis-Jenis Pola Komunikasi, Komunikasi dalam Jaringan Online (Daring), dan Pembelajaran Daring. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tipe penelitian deskriptif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam kepada narasumber. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian dan pembahasan maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan sebagai berikut, setiap pola komunikasi memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan masing-masing didalam pembelajaran online pada dosen dan mahasiswa program studi broadcasting UMB. Dosen dan mahasiswa juga harus bekerjasama dalam menghadapi hambatan-hambatan yang terjadi saat proses pembelajaran secara online, walaupun dengan adanya pandemi Covid-19 membuat perubahan pola komunikasi selama pembelajaran online tetapi dosen dan mahasiswa harus beradaptasi dengan keadaan yang sekarang dan berusaha yang terbaik agar proses pembelajaran tetap berjalan dengan baik.
