Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim to determine whether or not the influence of emotional intelligence on stress on students who are facing the final task. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach. Respondents in this study amounted to 241 people consisting of students from 2012 - 2015 with ages ranging from 21 to 24 years and were facing the final assignment. Therefore the sample selection technique used in this study is a probability sampling technique with a simple random sampling method. Emotional intelligence is measured using a scale consisting of 27 items with a reliability of 0.902 and stress is measured using a scale consisting of 31 items with a reliability of 0.905. In this study, a simple linear regression test was used to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on stress. The results showed an influence between emotional intelligence on stress, with r square of 0.408, which means the influence of emotional intelligence (X) on stress (Y) got determination as much as 40.8%, while the remaining 59.2% was another variable, and the significance value for p = 0.000 <α = 0.005, this means that emotional intelligence has an influence on stress. Keywords: emotional intelligence, stress, students, final assigment Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap stres pada mahasiswa yang sedang menghadapi tugas akhir. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif. Responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 241 orang yang terdiri dari mahasiswa angkatan 2012 – 2015 dengan rentang usia 21 – 24 tahun dan sedang menghadapi tugas akhir. Karena itu teknik pemilihan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik probability sampling dengan metode simple random sampling. Kecerdasan emosional diukur dengan menggunakan skala yang terdiri dari 27 item dengan reliabilitas sebesar 0.902 dan stres diukur dengan menggunakan skala yang terdiri dari 31 item dengan reliabilitas sebesar 0.905. Pada penelitian ini, uji regresi linier sederhana digunakan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap stres. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh antara kecerdasan emosional terhadap stres, dengan r square sebesar 0,408 yang berarti pengaruh kecerdasan emosional (X) terhadap stres (Y) mendapat determinasi sebanyak 40,8%, sedangkan sisanya 59,2% merupakan variabel lain, dan nilai signifikasi sebesar p= 0.000 < α = 0.005, hal ini berarti kecerdasan emosional memiliki pengaruh terhadap stres.
