Abstract

This study aims to determine how factual reality and digital reality are depicted in the film. Using Jean Baudrillard’s Hyperreality. This film research uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with Jean Baudrillard’s Semiotics. Andvances in information and communication technology make humans have the freedom to imagine and realize it. Digital technology and virtual worlds are increasingly enriched by the emergence of pseudo-reality and identity. Film, as a medium of mass communication, is a place for freedom of imagination. Director Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One film depicts the life of modern society in 2045, with extraordinary technological developments. A device that changes humans to be highly dependent on technology. Information and communication technology that creates anew world that is digital. OASIS, a world where modern humans escape and create a digital reality. Jean Baudrillard’s concept of hyperreality is clearly illustrated in this film. The results of the research are known as follows : 1. The hyperreality process in this film starts from getting ti know the world of Virtual Reality, being interested in VR games, getting fun in the virtual world, then it becomes a routine and turns into a necessity. 2. Forms of Hyperreality; use of time, motivation to play, cinsumption behavior, behavior inside and outside Virtual Reality, social relations and lifestyle. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana realitas faktual dan realitas digital digambarkan dalam film. Menggunnakan Hiperrealitas Jean Baudrillard. Penelitian film ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan Semiotika Jean Baudrillard. Kemajuan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi membuat manusia memiliki keleluasaan dalam berimajinasi dan merealisasikannya. Teknologi digital dan alam virtual semakin diperkaya dengan munculnya realitas dan identitas semu. Film, sebagai salah satu medium komunikasi massa, merupakan wadah kebebasan berimajinasi. Film Ready Player sutradara Steven Spielberg menggambarkan kehidupan masyarakat moderen pada tahun 2045, dengan adanya perkembangan teknologi yang luar biasa. Suatu piranti yang mengubah manusia menjadi sangat tergantung dengan teknologi. Teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang menciptakan dunia baru yaitu digital. OASIS, dunia tempat pelarian manusia modern dan menciptakan identitas baru yaitu identitas virtual. Masyarakat informasi yang menciptakan realitas digital. Konsep pemikiran Hiperrealitas Jean Baudrillard tergambar jelas dalam film ini. Hasilnya penelitian diketahui sebagai berikut : 1. Proses Hiperrealitas dalam film ini dimulai dari mengenal dunia Virtual Reality, ketertarikan terhadap game VR, memperoleh kesenangan didalam dunia Virtual, kemudian menjadi rutinitas dan berubah menjadi kebutuhan. 2. Bentuk Hiperrealitas; penggunaan waktu, motivasi bermain, perilaku konsumsi, perilaku didalam dan diluar Virtual Reality, relasi sosial dan pola hidup.
