Abstract

Employee career development not only influenced by individual characteristics but also organizational characteristics. The employee has career planning and the organization manage the career planning. The individual characteristics includes skill, education and work experience. The organizational characteristics includes organization resources, climate and design. If the individual career planning work with organization career management in harmony, they will deliver a satisfying career development. This research aim to analyze the significant influence among individual characteristic dan organization characteristic as independent variables either partially or simultaneously toward employee career development as dependent variable. The research method used is questionnair to the population of all employee at Directorate General of Taxes of Central Jakarta Region Office within 102 persons. The variable measurement uses likert scale technique with weighting scale from 1 to 5. To test the hyphothesis, we apply multiple linier regresion analysis using SPSS version 16. The result of research concludes the first hypoyhesis that there is a significant influence among individual characteristics (X1-3) dan organizational characteristics (X4-6) as independent variables simultaneously toward employee career development as dependent variable. The second hypothesis is about the significant influences of each subvariables among individual characteristics an organizational characteristics partially toward employee career development. The results showed that each of subvariables including individual skill (X1), individual education (X2), individual work experience (X3), organizational resource (X4), organizational climate (X5) and organizational design (X6) has a significant influence toward employee career development (Y).Pengembangan karir pegawai tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik individu saja tetapi juga karakteristik organisasi. Individu yang merencanakan sedangkan organisasi yang mengarahkan. Karakteristik individu meliputi keahlian, pendidikan dan pengalaman kerja. Sedangkan karakteristik organisasi meliputi sumber daya, iklim dan struktur organisasi. Perencanaan karir individu apabila dipadukan dengan manajemen karir organisasi akan menghasilkan pengembangan karir yang memuaskan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik individu dan karakteristiik organisasi sebagai variabel bebas secara parsial maupun simultan terhadap pengembangan karir pegawai sebagai variabel terikat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah melalui kuesioner terhadap seluruh pegawai di di Kantor Wilayah Direktorat Jenderal Pajak Jakarta Pusat yang berjumlah 102 orang. Pengukuran variabel menggunakan skala likert dimana nilai terendah adalah skor 1 sedangkan skor tertinggi adalah skor 5. Untuk menguji hipotesis digunakan analisis regresi linier berganda dengan SPSS versi 16. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis pertama yaitu karakteristik individu (X1-3) dan karakteristik organisasi (X4-6) sebagai variabel bebas berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pengembangan karir pegawai (Y) sebagai variabel terikat. Hipotesis kedua yaitu pengaruh masing-masing sub variabel karakteristik individu dan karakteristik organisasi terhadap pengembangan karir pegawai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan masing-masing variabel keahlian pegawai (X1), pendidikan pegawai (X2), pengalaman kerja pegawai (X3), sumber daya organisasi (X4), iklim organisasi (X5) dan struktur organisasi (X6) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pengembangan karir pegawai (Y).
