Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of self motivation, perceptions about the profession of public accountants, financial rewards, and professional recognition of interest in becoming a public accountant. The population in this study were students of accounting at Mercu Buana University. Sampling was 81 by using purposive sampling technique. The research data collection technique was carried out through a questionnaire. The data analysis method used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that self motivation has a positive and significant influence on the interests of being a public accountant, while perceptions of the public accountant profession, financial rewards, and professional recognition do not have a significant influence on the interests of being a public accountant. Keywords: Interest, Self-Motivation, Perception of the Public Accountant Profession, Financial Awards, Professional Recognition Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh motivasi diri, persepsi mengenai profesi akuntan publik, penghargaan finansial dan pengakuan professional terhadap minat menjadi akuntan publik . Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa prodi akuntansi Universitas Mercu Buana. Pengambilan sampel sebanyak 81 dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan melalui kuesioner. Metode analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi diri mempunyai pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap minat menjadi akuntan publik, sedangkan persepsi mengenai profesi akuntan publik, penghargaan finansial, dan pengakuan professional tidak mempuyai pengaruh signifikan terhadap minat menjadi akuntan publik .
