Abstract

The design of this product is intended to explore the relationship between elements or visual elements with local culture so as to create works that are aligned, integrated, balanced and proportion used as a learning medium, increase literacy in reading, and as a media publication of regional culture that has so far not been published. Considering that the existence of visual arts in Indonesia is developing quite well, the form of print media must have unique and different elements from the others. Therefore, the writer has an idea to introduce the culture of Malang Mask in a unique way so as to create the final project in the form of Malang Mask Pop-Up book. By using the Technical Perspective (Ground Perspective) as the Grounded Theory this study explains the relationship between visual dimensions and timatra that is expected to be the basis of the design transformation method with local character. The supporting instruments in the form of interview data with the craftsmen and artists of the Malangani Mask in Kedungmonggo Village, Pakisaj Subdistrict, Malang Regency were compiled to obtain a comprehensive picture of the visual data that will be used as material for this research, namely visual production using Pop-Up technique. Key Words : Visual Arts, Culture, Pop-Up, Malangan Mask Perancangan produk ini dimaksudkan untuk menelusuri hubungan antara unsur atau elemen visual dengan budaya daerah sehingga tercipta karya yang selaras, menyatu, keseimbangan dan proporsi yang digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran, menambah literasi bacaan, dan sebagai media publikasi budaya daerah yang selama ini kurang terpublikasi. Mengingat keberadaan seni visual di Indonesia berkembang cukup baik, maka bentuk media cetakpun harus memiliki unsur unik dan berbeda dengan yang lainnya. Oleh karena itu penulis memiliki ide untuk memperkenalkan budaya Topeng Malang dengan cara yang unik sehingga tercipta tugas akhir berupa buku Pop-Up Topeng Malang. Dengan menggunakan Perspektif Teknik (Technical Perspective) sebagai Grounded Theory penelitian ini menjelaskan hubungan antara dimensi visual dan karya rupa timatra yang diharapkan menjadi dasar metode transformasi desain yang berkarakter lokal. Instrumen pendukung berupa data wawancara dengan pengrajin dan seniman Topeng Malanganan di Desa Kedungmonggo, Kecamatan pakisaj, Kabupaten Malang dikompilasi untuk memperoleh gambaran yang menyeluruh untuk data visual yang akan dijadikan bahan penelitian ini yaitu pembuatan visual dengan teknik Pop-Up.
