Abstract
The Election is one of democratic system to elect representatives of the people who will sit in the people's representative institutions, as well as a form of fulfilling the rights of citizens in the political field. Elections are held to realize popular sovereignty. General Elections according to Law Number 10 of 2008 concerning General Elections of Members of the People's Legislative Assembly, Regional Representatives Council, and Regional People's Representative Council are a means of carrying out people's sovereignty which is carried out directly, publicly, freely, confidentially, honest and fair in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. As a newcomer, Marinus Gea in the 2014 DPR RI Legislative elections advanced from the Banten Electoral District III from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan). This study aims to see how the political communication strategy of Marinus Gea who succeeded to become a Member of the House of Representatives of the 2014-2019 period. The theoretical study used in this study is the theoretical framework of Nimmo's political communication and Anwar Arifin's political communication strategy: Caring for Personnel, Strengthening Institutions, Creating Togetherness, Establishing Methods and Selecting Media. This type of research is qualitative using the case study method The results showed that the political communication strategy was a determining factor for the election of Marinus Gea as a Member of the Indonesian Parliament from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. As a newcomer to this political contestation, he can prove that his ability to implement political communication strategies has an impact on his victory. Keywords: Strategy, Communication, Political Communication, Marinus Gea Pemilihan umum (Pemilu) adalah salah satu cara dalam sistem demokrasi untuk memilih wakil rakyat yang akan duduk di lembaga perwakilan rakyat, serta salah satu bentuk pemenuhan hak asasi warga negara di bidang politik. Pemilu dilaksanakan untuk mewujudkan kedaulatan rakyat.Pemilihan Umum menurut Undang-undang Nomor 10 Tahun 2008 tentang Pemilihan Umum Anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat, Dewan Perwakilan Daerah, dan Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah adalah sarana pelaksanaan kedaulatan rakyat yang dilaksanakan secara langsung, umum, bebas, rahasia, jujur, dan adil dalam Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia berdasarkan Pancasila dan Undang-Undang Dasar Negara Republik Indonesia Tahun 1945. Sebagai pendatang baru, Marinus Gea dalam pemilihan umum Legislatif DPR RI tahun 2014 maju dari Daerah Pemilihan Banten III dari Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDI Perjuangan). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana strategi komunikasi politik Marinus Gea yang berhasil lolos menjadi Anggota DPR RI Periode 2014 - 2019. Kajian teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kerangka teori komunikasi politik Nimmo dan strategi komunikasi politik Anwar Arifin: Merawat Ketokohan, Memantapkan Kelembagaan, Menciptakan Kebersamaan, Menetapkan Metode dan Memilih Media. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa strategi komunikasi politik menjadi faktor penentu bagi terpilihnya Marinus Gea sebagai Anggota DPRI RI dari Partai PDI Perjuangan. Sebagai pendatang baru didalam kontestasi politik ini, beliau bisa membuktikan bahwa kecakapan dalam menerapkan strategi komunikasi politik berimbas kepada kemenangan beliau.
