Abstract

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) was used to identify non value added activity such as product failure in the production process of Gasket Connectors for Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in one of the rubber manufacturing companies in Batam, where this study uses a descriptive analytical approach. Collected data were obtained from observations, primary data, secondary data and interviews. The purpose of this research is to identify waste and increase productivity. One of the 7 QC tools, Fishbone diagram, was used together with Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and 5W+1H to make improvements in the production area of Rubber products. As an initial step, a literature review was conducted to study Lean Manufacturing, VSM and FMEA. The next step is to explore how VSM can be applied effectively in the rubber industry for HDD so that it can increase the value of productivity. Waste was identified using Current Value Stream Mapping on the process of rubber material and curing such as rubber flash, sort mold, also tear in the deflashing process to be proposed for immediate improvement. The improvement was showed that failure product before improvement for those 8 family rubber products was 19.6%. After the implementation, defective products were seen to be reduced by 11.2% (achieved 8,4%) so that Total Change Over time, which was a Non Value Added (NVA) activity of all related processes, decreased from 1, 62 hours to 0.18 hours for the Rubber process, 0.6 hours to 0.18 hours for the curing process and the Hand press jig process (deflashing) also decreased from 0.6 hours to 0.17 hours. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi aktivitas yang tidak bernilai tambah, seperti kasus kegagalan produk pada proses produksi gasket konektor untuk Hard Disk Drive (HDD) di salah satu perusahaan manufaktur rubber di Batam, Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif analitis. Data yang dikumpulkan diperoleh dari observasi, data primer, data sekunder dan wawancara. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengindentifikasi waste dan meningkatkan produktivitas. Salah satu alat dari 7 QC tools yaitu diagram tulang ikan digunakan bersamaan dengan Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) dan 5W+1H melakukan perbaikan di area produksi produk Rubber. Waste yang teridentifikasi menggunakan Current Value Stream Mapping pada proses rubber material dan curing seperti rubber flash, sort mold, juga tear pada proses deflashing, diusulkan untuk segera dilakukan perbaikan secara menyeluruh. Hasil perbaikan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan kegagalan produk sebelum perbaikan untuk 8 produk family rubber adalah 19.6 %, dengan penerapan perbaikan terlihat produk cacat berkurang 11.2 % (mencapai 8.4%) sehingga Total Change Over time yang merupakan aktivitas yang tidak bernilai tambah dari semua proses terkait mengalami penurunan, semisal dari 1,62 jam menjadi 0,18 jam untuk proses rubber dan 0,6 jam menjadi 0,18 jam untuk proses curing serta proses Hand press jig (deflashing) juga menurun dari 0,6 jam menjadi 0,17 jam.
