Abstract

Fenomena Homoseksual mulai menjadi hal yang biasa, hal ini dapat dilihat dari kaum homoseksual yang semakin hari perlahan mulai menunjukkan eksistensinya di masyarakat. Jakarta menjadi jantung ibu kota, dengan kehidupan malam yang cenderung bebas, menjadikan Jakarta sebagai tempat bagi kaum homoseksual bebas untuk mengekspresikan dirinya. Tujuan penelitian ini memfokuskan membahas tentang interaksi simbolik sebagai alat komunikasi homoseksual pada fenomena hubungan sejenis di kalangan profesional di Jakarta. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan teori Interaksi Simbolik yang dikemukakan oleh George Herbet Mead pada tahun 1937. Interaksi simbolik ada karena ide-ide dasar dalam membentuk makna yang berasal dari pikiran manusia (Mind) mengenai diri (Self), dan hubungannya di tengah interaksi sosial serta menginterpretasi makna di tengah masyarakat (Society) dimana individu tersebut menetap. Melalui proses itu berkaitan dengan rumusan masalah dan teori Interaksi Simbolik melihat dan menjelaskan bagaimana kaum gay menggunakan simbol-simbol sebagai bahasa yang mereka gunakan. Homoseksual yang memiliki pemahaman konsep diri terbuka mereka akan berinteraksi sesuai dengan perannya. Disisi lain ada kaum homoseksual yang masih tertutup mereka berusaha menutup identitasnya dengan menggunakan simbolsimbol tertentu yang disepakati bersama sebagai alat komunikasinya. Tetapi pada umumnya dalam komunitas atau interaksi pada hubungan sesama jenis saja mereka dapat berinteraksi dengan baik, tentunya dengan gesture, tatapan, atau bahasa tertentu yang hanya dapat dipahami oleh kaum homoseksual. Berdasarkan analisis, peneliti menemukan bahwa dalam perilaku komunikasi hubungan sejenis pada kalangan professional terdapat beberapa hal, yakni: 1) Konsep diri kaum homoseksual sesuai dengan perannya pada hubungan sejenis setelah mereka menemukan ideentitas dirinya 2) Simbol yang muncul pada hubungan sejenis dimaknai sebagai cara mereka untuk mengekspresikan diri mereka secara bebas, sebab kalangan professional di Jakarta lebih harus menjaga profesi, jabatan, atau nama besar perusahaanya. ==== The phenomenon of homosexuality began to become commonplace, this can be seen from homosexuals who are increasingly slowly starting to show their existence in society. Jakarta is the heart of the capital, with a free nightlife, making it a place for homosexuals to express themselves. The purpose of this study focuses on symbolic interaction as a tool of homosexual communication on the phenomenon of same-sex relationships among professionals in Jakarta. This study used the theory of Symbolic Interaction put forward by George Herbet Mead in 1937. Symbolic interaction exists because the basic ideas of forming the meaning derived from the human mind (Mind) about the self (Self), and its relationships in the midst of social interaction and interpreting meaning in the society (Society) where the individual lives. Through the process it deals with problem formulation and the theory of Symbolic Interactions seeing and explaining how gays use symbols as the language they use. Homosexuals who have an understanding of their open self-concept will interact according to their role. On the other hand, there are homosexuals who are still closed they try to close their identity by using certain symbols that are mutually agreed upon as a means of communication. But in general in communities or interactions in same-sex relationships only they can interact well, of course with gestures, gazes, or certain languages that can only be understood by homosexuals. Based on the analysis, researchers found that in the communication behavior of same-sex relationships among professionals there are several things, namely: 1) The self-concept of homosexuals in accordance with their role in same-sex relationships after they find their ideentity 2) The symbol that appears in same-sex relationships is interpreted as their way to express themselves freely, because professionals in Jakarta must better maintain the profession, position, or big name company.
