Abstract
COKEK is a documentary film that tells the story of a Chinese community or ethnicity who maintains a traditional dance that was once viewed as bad and obscene among the local community. And currently struggling to maintain the existence of the Cokek dance in society. This research the writer prioritizes how an image editor or as an editor in building a film based on a script that has been made by the director and the images that have been taken by the cameraman. Editing is the process of post-production activities. Editing can be done after all the material and shot results are found by the editor. The editor himself can provide various kinds of film visuals through image selection, arrangement and timing trying to adjust the needs of the script image. The main task as an editor is to create and maintain the continuity of each scene transfer. The transfer of the image to the next image should be decent and subtle (filmic aesthetic). As the editor, make the decision for how long the action will be shown to the audience. Keywords: Betawi Art, Documentary Films, Image Editing, Cokek Dance COKEK merupakan film documenter yang bercerita adanya sebuah masyarakat atau etnis Tionghoa yang mempertahan sebuah tari tradisional yang sempat di pandang buruk serta senonoh di kalangan masyarakat setempat. Dan saat ini berjuang untuk mempertahankan eksistensi tari Cokek di tengah masyarakat. Penelitian ini penulis mengutamakan bagaiamana seorang penyunting gambar atau selaku editor dalam membangun sebuah film berdasarakan naskah yang sudah dibuat oleh sutradara dan gamabar yang sudah di ambil oleh Kameramen. Editing adalah proses kegiatan pasca produksi. Editing dapat dilakukan sesudah semua materi dan hasil shot didapati oleh editor. Editor sendiri dapat memberikan macam-macan aneka visual film melalui pemilihan gambar, arasemen dan timing berusaha dapat menyesuaikan kebutuhan gambar naskah. Tugas utama selaku editor yaitu menciptakan dan dapat menjaga kesinambungan setiap pemindahan adegan. Perpindahan gambar ke gambar berikutnya harus layak dan halus (estetika filmis). Selaku editor mengambil keputusan untuk berapa lamanya waktu aksi yang akan ditayangakan kepada penonton. Kata kunci: Kesenian Betawi, Film Dokumenter, Penyuntingan Gambar, Tari Cokek
