Abstract

Transition period makes employees of PT. Tirta Kencana Mas is faced with an ambiguous situation due to the communication equality. Communication in organizations takes an important role in realizing the implementation of organizational functions. Members' perception of the organization involves the communication process in the organization, the relationship between subordinate superiors and vice versa, the relationship between fellow employees, behavior in the organization, and high confidence and trust in the organization, describing the communication climate of the organization concerned. A positive organizational communication climate can encourage organizational goals. Therefore this study wants to find out how the communication climate of organizations develops during the transition period, and how the role of the communication climate in the organization and the role of leadership in creating an organizational communication climate. This study uses a qualitative approach with the constructivism paradigm, while the research method is a case study. from observation, in-depth interviews and organizational documents. The resource person as the informant who was chosen intentionally enriched the data obtained. The conceptual framework developed in this study is theories related to organizational communication including communication climate, internal communication and leadership communication styles. From the research, it can be seen that in this transition period employees are faced with an ambiguous situation due to the communication equality, uncertainty is also felt because of the leadership communication style applied in the organization. A lack of understanding of the vision, mission and organizational culture is reflected through the behavior of employees who tend to be apathetic because of the tendency of one way communication. Keyword : Communication Climate, Internal Communication, Leadership Communication Style Masa transisi membuat karyawan PT. Tirta Kencana Mas dihadapkan dengan situasi yang ambigu akibat ekuivokalitas komunikasi. Komunikasi dalam organisasi mengambil peranan penting dalam mewujudkan terlaksananya fungsi-fungsi organisasi. Persepsi anggota organisasi menyangkut proses komunikasi dalam organisasi, hubungan antara atasan bawahan dan sebaliknya, hubungan antara sesama karyawan, perilaku dalam organisasi, serta keyakinan dan kepercayaan yang tinggi terhadap organisasi, menggambarkan iklim komunikasi organisasi yang bersangkutan. Iklim komunikasi organisasi yang positif dapat mendorong tercapainya tujuan organisasi. Oleh sebab itu penelitian ini ingin mengetahui bagaimana iklim komunikasi organisasi berkembang pada masa transisi, serta bagaimana peranan iklim komunikasi dalam organisasi dan peranan pimpinan dalam menciptakan iklim komunikasi organisasi.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan paradigma kontsruktivisme, sementara metode penelitian adalah studi kasus Pengumpulan data diperoleh dari observasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumen organisasi. Narasumber sebagai informanyang dipilih secara sengaja telah memperkaya data yang diperoleh. Kerangka konsep yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori-teori yang berkaitan dengan komunikasi organisasi diantaranya iklim komunikasi, komunikasi internal dan gaya komunikasi kepemimpinan. Dari penelitian diperoleh gambaran bahwa pada masa transisi ini para karyawan dihadapkan dengan situasi yang ambigu akibat ekuivokalitas komunikasi, ketidakpastian juga dirasakan karena gaya komunikasi kepemimpinan yang diterapkan dalam organisasi. Pemahaman yang kurang mendalam terhadap visi, misi dan budaya organisasi tergambar melalui perilaku karyawan yang cenderung bersikap apatis karena ada kecenderungan one way communication.
